Winfred “Mac” McClelland
Obituary's Biography:
Winfred “Mac” McClelland, 80, a resident of Vernon Hills, passed away Wednesday, April 6th, 2022, at his home. He was born July 25th, 1941, in Eunice, Louisiana to James and Audrey McClelland. Mac was a member of the North Shore Unitarian Church in Deerfield. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years, meeting his wife Marguerite in 1963, while stationed in France. When he retired from the military, he worked as an instructor at Great Lakes Naval Station, ascending the ranks to become Executive Director of the Training Support Center. Mac dedicated his life to the teaching and guidance of young adults, as they explored which path to take toward their futures. Mac is survived by his children, James (Mina) McClelland and Danielle (Jonathan) Katz, his grandchildren Keagan and Aiden McClelland and Aaron and Noah Katz, and his brother James (Donna) McClelland. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Hildegard “Marguerite” McClelland, his parents James and Audrey McClelland, and his brother Jerry McClelland. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 12th, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030.
