Steven A. Karr

Obituary's Biography:

Steven Allen Karr, age 71, of Gurnee, IL, passed away on October 21, 2024 at his home.  He was born July 18, 1953 in Des Plaines to Norman Karr and Margaret (nee Schrimpf) and raised by George Wold.

Steve grew up in Lake Villa, IL and graduated from Grayslake High School.  Steve worked in his family’s bakery before becoming an Electrician with IBEW 150, where he mastered his beautiful cake decorating skills.  Steve retired from the IBEW after 40+ years of service.  During his retirement he enjoyed his trips to Florida, time spent with his grandchildren, and weekly pizza day with his fellow retirees.  Steve was well known for his long conversations, quick wit, and his photography and art.  He will be greatly missed by many.

Steve is survived by his wife, Cathy, of 16 years; his children, Rachel (Kevin) Gentry of Genoa City, Wisconsin and Mark of Anchorage, Kentucky; his wife’s children, Chris Baker of Wisconsin, Keith (Jenny) Baker of Antioch, and Hollie (Dale) Meggs of Waukegan; his grandchildren, Caleb, Amarion, Krystal, Connor, and Jordan; and his siblings, Robert (Lynette) of Spring Grove, Debra (Tom) Krueger of Lake Villa, Kimberly Phelps of Kentucky, and Terry (Tracy) Wold of Wisconsin.  Steve is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kevin Wold.
