Obituary's Biography:

Patricia Ruth Sunderman, 94, a resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away March 5, 2022 at her home. She was born January 23, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Alfred and Grace Krier. She moved to Park Forest, Illinois after marriage, and then to Homewood, where she raised her three children.

Pat worked as an executive secretary for several Fortune 500 companies over the course of her career. As a single mom, she worked hard to provide for her family. She was active in book clubs, a bridge club and a bowling league. She loved travel and was able to see Europe, Mexico, take cruises, and also to travel extensively in the United States. While her children were still at home, she never hesitated to pile everyone in the car and head out on various trips-from the east coast to the west coast and everywhere in between. She loved to knit and created many heirlooms for her family. She loved reading, current events, and plays. She was also an ace at even the hardest crossword puzzles! She was especially proud of her extensive family.

Patricia is survived by her children Donna (Robert)Hitzeroth, Helena MT, Cindy (Kevin) Hall Brown, Charlotte NC, Jeffrey (Julie) Sunderman, Spring Prairie WI, her grandchildren Cheryl (Luke) Erdahl, Helena MT, Bethany (Mark) Brownlee, Helena MT, Jake (Michael Schmer) Hitzeroth, Redondo Beach CA, Michelle (Jason Pray) Hall, Wytheville VA, Elizabeth (Erik) Tedore, Greenville OH, Christina (Robbie Warren)Hall, Matthews NC, Nathaniel Hall, Charlotte NC, Matthew (Sarah) Sunderman, Lake Bluff IL, Noah (Joie) Sunderman, Fitchburg WI, Zachary (Kaitlin) Sunderman, Bristol WI, Rae (William) Gruetzmacher, Lake Forest IL, Kristin (Brett Kreiner) Mikrut, Lake Bluff IL, Greg Mikrut (Stacy), San Diego, CA… and her 28 great-grandchildren!

A visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 12:00pm until 1:30pm, with the funeral service commencing at 1:30pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will be private. Gifts in Patricia’s memory are welcomed at one of her favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
