Richard Fox

Richard H. Fox, 87, a resident of Grayslake and formerly of Northbrook, passed away Saturday March 7, 2015 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born March 12, 1927 in Chicago, IL. Richard was a member of St. Mary of Annunciation, a veteran of the Korean War having served with the Army, and worked as an architect for over 50 years. Richard is survived by his children Michael (Denise) Fox, Barbara (Tom) Hohs, Janet (Tom) Mason, Teresa (Gary) Hoppe, Rick Fox Jr, Jeanne (Jeff) Devroy, 13 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren. Mathias J. Brost

Mathias J. Brost, formerly of Grayslake, IL passed away on March 3, 2015, shortly after celebrating his 100th birthday in late February. Mathias was the cherished husband of Josephine, who will miss his love and companionship acutely after nearly 75 years of marriage. Matt was the dedicated father of Robert and Mary, and proud grandfather of four. Matt and Jo were long time members of St. Mary’s church in Mundelein. Mathias was a veteran who served his country in both World War II and the Korean War. Mathias was preceded in death by his three sisters Isabelle, Gertrude and Eleanore, as well as his parents. Angela Griffin, 79, a resident of Gurnee passed away March 4, 2015 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born November 20, 1935 in Chicago to Frank and Madeline Palisi. Olivera V. Pavlovich of Sanford Florida and formerly Grayslake Illinois passed away on March 3 2015. Margarita Martinez, 68, a resident of Round Lake passed away Monday March 2, 2015 at her home. She was born June 2, 1946 in Puerto Rico to Nicholas and Dolores (nee: Pinero) Martinez. Margarita was big hearted, always smiling, and always wanting to help others. She loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren. George W. Everitt, 78, a resident of Round Lake Beach, IL passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Advocate Condell Medical Center. He was born October 7, 1936 in Chicago, IL to George and Koloma Everitt. George was a veteran having served with the US Marines. He was a member of the 801 Marine Corp League, the Libertyville Masons, the Operating Engineers Local 150, and Calvary Presbyterian Church. Dolores H. Dreyer, 90, a resident of Fox Lake, passed away February 21, 2015 at Centegra in McHenry. She was born July 14, 1924 in Wilmette, IL to Arthur and Katherine Schwall. She was a very devoted Cubs fan. Etta L. Peters

Etta L. Peters, 80, a resident of Wauconda, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Boston, OH on July 3, 1934 to Robert and Ethel Myers. Etta loved to sing, dance, travel, cook, play poker and paint. Her passion was being around her family and friends, who she loved dearly and unconditionally. She lived her life gracefully to the fullest and relished in all of life’s joys. We were all blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from Etta throughout her 80 years and her everlasting light and spirit will shine upon us all forever and ever. Etta is survived by her children, Robin L. (Len) Niemi, Mark S. Peters of Los Angeles, CA, and Brett A. “Pookie” Peters; her grandchildren, Aisha, Jessica, Anthony and Billy; and her great-grandchildren, Michael, Meagan, Jordon, Justin, Sydney, Bella, Anthony, Xander, Emma and Parker. Etta was preceded in death by her loving husband, H O Peters, whom she met and married in Los Angeles, CA in 1957—a marriage made in Heaven and a life full of unequivocal love and devotion to each other. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Earl “Skip” Stone and her granddaughter, Tammy Stone. Etta was a treasure to behold. We were all blessed that God aligned the stars and planets just right, to make us all part of her extraordinary journey through life as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother and friend. Doris Lucille (Baarstad) Ruback

Doris Lucille (Baarstad) Ruback, age 94, of Grayslake and formerly of Genoa and the Rockford area, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at her home in Grayslake.  She was born on January 26, 1921 in Thordenjold Township, North Dakota, the youngest of 10 children of Frederick and Pauline (Boxrud) Baarstad.  She was a member of Lord of Glory Lutheran Church in Grayslake and a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa.  Doris enjoyed dancing, bowling, golfing, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bulls, and anything her grandchildren were involved in.  She worked in the banking service industry for many years.  She is survived by her son, Gail (Carol); five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was loved by many and known as Grandma D to countless friends of all of her grandchildren.  Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chet; son, Dennis; and eight brothers and sisters.  Friends of the family may visit from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Lord of Glory Lutheran Church, 607 West Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 with the funeral service commencing at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Brian Davies officiating.  Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Garden of Memories, 9800 Illinois Route 76 in Belvidere, IL.  Memorial donations in Doris’ name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 100 Tri-State International, Suite 125, Lincolnshire, IL 60069.  Arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.  For more information please log onto www.strangfuneral.org or call (847)223-8122.

Ronald F. Frey, 70, a resident of McHenry, passed away Tuesday February 17, 2015 at Journeycare Hospice in Woodstock, IL. He was born September 11, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Wilbur and Rosemarie Frey. Ronald was a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Air Force and was a member of Warriors Watch. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Antonia “Toni” Vanderpas. 85, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Sunday February 15, 2015 at Winchester House in Libertyville, IL. She was born February 22, 1929 in the Netherlands to Adrianus and Wilhemina vanHoek. Toni was a member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church and Choir for over 40 years. She loved music and crafting especially knitting and crocheting. Betty was a graduate of Grant High School, worked as a nurse, and ran the Hertel’s Cleaning Business for 40 years. Elizabeth M. Pamela K. Kacner

Pamela K. Kacner, 57, a resident of Lindenhurst, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL after a long battle with cancer. She was born on July 1, 1957 in Hayward, WI to Harry and Hazel Rang. Pamela worked for over 10 years with SEDOL as a teacher’s assistant and enjoyed working with autistic children. She enjoyed expressing herself with a wide variety of arts and crafts. Pamela is survived by her husband of 33 years, Michael, her children Carolyn Berry and Benjamin (Anne Valburg) Kacner, her grandson Anakin Berry, her siblings Charles (Jeri) Rang, Barbara Rang, Betty Peterson, Patsy (Patrick) Bateson, and Curt (Deanna) Rang, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Barbara J. Forshee, 71, of Chicago, passed away at home on January 27, 2015. Barbara was born on October 31, 1943 to William and Lorraine LaBrec nee Odegard. Barbara loved to crochet, she liked art, and loved to draw, she was a Bears fan, loved to cook, and do roof top gardening. Barbara is survived by her children, Donna(Skip) of Lake Villa, Frankie(Judy) of Twin Lakes, Wi. Naomi of Texas. Her Grandchildren Justin, Donna lynn, Sharie, Ryan, Michael, Samantha, Joshua, Sabrina, James, Kristina, Billy, and Angela, and her 12 great grandchildren. John T. Troemel, 74, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Wednesday January 28, 2015 at Northwestern Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born September 5, 1940 in Chicago to Clarence and Catherine Troemel. John spent his working career as a maintenance supervisor working for both Sara Lee and Underwriters Laboratory. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judi, his children John Thomas (Chris) Troemel, Jeff (Dana) Troemel, and Amy (Bryon) Johnson, his grandchildren Nicole and Tommy Troemel and Emily and Shelby Johnson, and his siblings Tom Troemel and Betty Oechsle. Gregory George Gruber, age 67, of Antioch, formerly of Grayslake, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. He was born on November 17, 1947 in Chicago to George and Mary Gruber. A graduate of Carmel High School, class of 1966, Gregory was a veteran who served in the Army during the Vietnam War and a Purple Heart recipient. Stanton, 69, resident of Chicago and Round Lake, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Advocate Medical Center, Libertyville.  He was born June 22, 1945 in Chicago to Robert and Lois Stanton.  Thomas was a member of the American Legion, Post 1170, Round Lake and a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam.   He enjoyed sports, music, traveling and being with family and friends.  Thomas is survived by his wife, Eileen, whom he married on August 31, 1984, his siblings, Patricia (Kevin) Newman, Michael (Val) Stanton, Donna Stanton, and his nieces and nephews, Maureen Newman, Kevin Newman, Elizabeth Newman.  A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be made to Avon Community Food Pantry, 433 E Washington St., Round Lake, IL 60073.  All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, 410 E Belvidere Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030.
