Henry Murrell

Henry Murrell, age 69, a Waukegan resident, passed away, Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born January 20, 1946 at home in Chicago. A painter by trade, he was a member of local union #863. Henry is survived by his children, Michael (Christina) Murrell, Mark (Lisa) Murrell, Matthew (Sue) Murrell and Melody (Jeff) McMillen; his grandchildren, Ashley McMillen, Meghan McMillen, and Austin Murrell; and his siblings, Dave (Mary) Murrell, Richard (Ann) Murrell, Gerald (Willie), Mary (Richard), and John ( Carol) deceased. Joseph Novello

Joseph Novello, 85 of Grayslake, Illinois, died on September 20, 2015 at his home.  Joseph was born in Chicago, IL on July 23, 1930 to his parents Joseph Novello Sr and Mary Novello Nelson.  He served as a Corporal in the United States Army as a Medical Technician during the Korean War.  Joe had over 30 years as a saristan officer educharistic minister and an alter server for daily masses at St Joseph’s Catholic Church.  He was retired from Chicago Roto Print Company.   He is survived by his nieces Kathleen Shaver (Larry Hintz) of Round Lake Beach,  IL and Roberta (Bob) Mack of Gilbert, AZ and his nephew Bob Stone Jr (Lisa Holmes) of Antioch, IL.  Also surviving are 13 Grand nieces and nephews and 12 Great Grand nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.   He was preceded in death by his father Joseph, his mother Mary Novello Nelson, and his sister Rosemarie (nee Novello) Stone.   The visitation will be Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL   60030.  A funeral mass will be at 9:30 AM on Friday, September 25, 2015 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 114 N Lincoln, Round Lake, IL   60073.   Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery, River Grove, IL.  Memorials may be made in Joseph’s name to St Joseph Catholic Church, Round Lake, IL   60073.  For further information, call Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium at 847-223-8122.

Erik Skoglund

Erik Skoglund, 53, a resident of Gages Lake, IL, passed away September 14, 2015, at his home. He was born June 6, 1962 in Waukegan, IL. Erik had worked as a handyman. Erik is survived by his father Roger Skoglund, his brother Marty (Tammy) Skoglund, his sisters Pam (Gene) Kalvaitis, Marlene (Chuck) Zeiler, and Claudette (Tim) Dirsmith, his niece Lindsay (Ava) Zeiler, his nephews Dane Zeiler, Graham Dirsmith, Garret Dirsmith, Jeremy Skoglund, Justin (Andrea) Skoglund, and Zachary Skoglund, and his great-nephews Tucker Skoglund and Finley Skoglund. Adeline D. Ignarski

Adeline D. Ignarski, 96, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at her home in Grayslake.  She was born February 5, 1919 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Caroline Walaszek.  Adeline was a member of St. Monica Church in Chicago for over 50 years, a member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union, and had most recently attended St. Gilbert Church for the past 3 ½ years.  Adeline is survived by her children Corinne (Don) Kehrberg of Grayslake, IL and Dennis (Annette) Ignarski of Schaumburg, IL, her grandchildren Gina Niemiec of Hanover Park, IL, Jason (Lisa) Kehrberg of Long Grove, IL, Deedra (Brian) Diskin of Chicago, IL , Gretchen Kehrberg of Austin, TX, Steven (Laura) Ignarski of Chicago, IL, Kevin (Sarah) Kehrberg of Swannanoa, NC, and her 10 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sigmund, her brother Edward (Sophie) Walaszek of Kansas City, KS, and her sister  Estelle  (Larry) Palka of Oak Park, IL. Bernice C. Hewitt

Bernice C. Hewitt, age 90, of Lindenhurst, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 at Victory Lakes Continuing Care Center in Lindenhurst. She was born in New Bedford, MA, on July 5, 1925. Bernice as a former resident of Waukegan and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waukegan. She is survived by her three children, James (Leane) of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Charles (Harvey Wolf) of Evanston, and Gail Terrien (Butch Terrien) of Bloomington, MN and three grandchildren, Ryan Terrien, Melissa Terrien and Grant Terrien. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey J. Hewitt. Susan (Sue) Jean Evenson

She loved life. Those 3 words best describe Susan (Sue) Jean Evenson. She was a gift born to the world September 7, 1951. In her short lifetime, Sue gave back to the world unconditionally. She was a bright spirit, positive, loving and kind to everyone she met. Her favorite things were volunteering, the beach/water, doing things for others, celebrating holidays (especially birthdays) sending cards (with lots of stickers), giving and getting gifts, parties/celebrations, spending time exploring/antiquing with her husband, spending lots of time with her grandchildren children and BFF’s Chris, Barb and Linda (and we cannot forget her love of cigarettes and coffee). She was a free spirit with a childlike soul. Her beautiful Spirit is carried on by her husband Edward Evenson, her two daughters, Shannon Fricilone Long (Alex) and Sarah Fricilone Varisco (Joe), four grandchildren (Sophia, Vincent, Xavier and Felix), three surviving siblings Sharon Delewski, Sandra Clemmenson and Robert Buczak and an extended family of nieces and nephews, relations and friends from every walk of life. David G. Strang

David G. Strang, 85, a lifelong resident of Grayslake, passed away September 7, 2015 at his home. He was born July 8, 1930 in Grayslake, IL to Harold and Gertrude (nee: Grandy) Strang. David was a third generation funeral director and owner of Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium for over 50 years. He was a member of the Grayslake Historical Society, the Grayslake American Legion Post #659, Rising Sun Lodge #115, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Supreme Council 33, a Shriner of Medinah Temple Chicago, and Lake Council #121, Cryptic Masons of Illinois, Waukegan. Dave was in the second graduating class of Grayslake Community High School in 1948. Dave served in the US Army as a paratrooper and was an avid collector and showman of antique cars. He was also known for his love of animals, especially boxers. Dave is survived by his brother Thomas G. Strang, several cousins, and his devoted staff at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Arden Babcox. Stephen E Beitzel

Stephen E Beitzel 55, of Chicago, Illinois, died 3 September, 2015 at Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville, Illinois. Stephen was born on 16 March, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois to Leonard and Patricia (Epperson). He was an engineering technician at Tredegar Company. He is survived by his former wife, Robin Beitzel, his son Scott (Jennifer) Beitzel, his daughter Amy Beitzel, his mother Patricia Beitzel, his brothers James (Stacy), Tom, Rick, David (Jenny) and Joe (Cindy). Also surviving are his sisters Laura Sprague and Sandy (Scott) Holley. He was an Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Stephen was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth and his father Leonard. Curtis L. Braa

Curtis L. Braa, age 72, of Waukegan, IL, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest. He was born August 3, 1943 in Rockford to Carl and Evelyn (nee Kelsey) Braa. In the fall of 1945, the family returned and purchased a farm in Fedora, SD, where he grew up. Curt was a retired band director of 35 years with many public schools (Fulton, Ethan, Letcher, Doland & Brandon Valley schools in South Dakota, Keokuk, Iowa, Warren Township High School in Gurnee, IL and Ft. Hancock, TX. He is survived by his children Angela (Russ) Chamberlin of Grayslake, Andrea Kowitz of Lake Geneva, WI and Rich (Cindy) of Richmond; grandchildren, Kelsey & Courtney Chamberlin, Kalynn, Morgan & Emma Kowitz & Julia Braa; siblings, Dennis of Sioux Falls, SD and Doug (Becky) of Mokena, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Daniel Anthony Hubert, age 85 years, passed away peacefully Monday, August 31, 2015, surrounded by his family. Daniel was born July 21, 1930 in Chicago to Ila May Hubert (nee Fagan) and his father, Frank Hubert. The beloved husband of Jeanne Gwendolyn Hubert married in Chicago in July 19, 1952, the loved father of Susan (Steven) Dudley and Michael (Susan) Hubert, cherished grandfather of Rachel (Derek) Osero, Matthew (Skyra) Dudley, Rebecca (Shawn Geppert) Hubert and Eric Hubert, and loving great-grandfather of Jacob Dudley, Andrew Dudley, Dylan Osero and Rio Osero. While raising his children, he was an active Webelos Scout leader and Cub Scout Pack leader. He enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing with his family and gardening, woodworking and doing crossword puzzles. Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Hubert, his mother, Ila May Hubert, his father, Frank Hubert, his father-in-law Wesley Wilson, his mother-in-law, Gwendolyn Wilson, his sisters Ruth Bernhart, Lois Busch, Charleen Mouradian, his brother, Dale Hubert, his sisters-in-law, Betty Wilson, Doris Cantwell and Gail Louise Wilson, his brothers-in-law, Russell Bernhart, Paul Busch and David Wilson, his niece, Denise Busch and his nephew Arthur Bernhart. Kenneth J. Swanson, age 70, of Round Lake Beach, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Chicago. He was born August 23, 1945 in Chicago.  He was retired from the Village of Round Lake Beach after 35 years.  He was the loving father of David (Julie Marie) Swanson, Tony Swanson and Robert Swanson; cherished grandfather of Dustin, CJ, Samantha, Cydney and Camryn; dear great-grandfather of Andjeck, Xavier and Britton. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Linda) Swanson, brother-in-law, Tom (Karen) Marolda, Mary Marik, Wendy (Chris) Hartman, James Marolda, Judy Marolda; and nieces and nephews, John Erick, Matt, Elizabeth, Heather, Joe, Mike, Christopher, Ashley and John.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Helen Swanson and his wife, Linda Swanson, whom he married on August 23, 1969 and who passed away on November 29, 2011. Mary Ellen Slaboski

Mary Ellen Slaboski, 62, of Lakemoor, Il, originally of East Chicago, In, passed away on August 28, 2015. Mary Ellen was a passionate and dedicated teacher at Laremont School in Gages Lake, IL. As a teacher for children with severe and profound challenges and later as a patient with significant health issues, she encouraged all to embrace the value and dignity of each and every individual.
Mary Ellen was a horse enthusiast who found joy in her rescued mustangs as well as her thoroughbred race horses. Mary Ellens love for
animals began at a young age as she showed her cocker spaniels. She later became a professional handler of top ranking cocker spaniels which allowed her to travel around the country. Mary Ellen graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in special education, as well a masters from University Park.
Mary Ellen is survived by her brother Tom Slaboski, his wife Cindy Slaboski, and beloved nieces and nephews Adam Slaboski, Kathryn and David Wong, Kristen Slaboski and her dear aunt, Betty Ball. Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Helen Slaboski. Mary Ellen actively attended Willow Creek Community Church and served on the Guest Ministries Team.

Carole Jean Schwenk, age 79, of Chicago, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Victory Lakes Assisted Living in Lindenhurst. She was born November 9, 1935 in Chicago. Kenneth S. Koelle III

Kenneth Sheridan Koelle III, age 71, of North Riverside, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 24, 2015. He was born November 30, 1943 in Iola, WI to Kenneth S. I and Gladys Olive (Syvertson) Koelle. He loved to boat and fish and loved RC airplanes. He was also a gourmet cook. He was with Carol, the love of his life, for 21 years. He is survived by Carol; his children, Anita Hawkins of Antioch, IL, Juanita (fiancé Scott) of Beach Park, IL and Lolita (Rick) Kleitsch of Ringwood, IL; his grandchildren, Ana, Heather, Little Juanita, Alexxis, Daeshaun, Blake, Colton, Taylor and Vincent; one great-grandson, Trent; and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Paulette. Jean M. Batz, 82, of Grayslake, Il, passed away August 23, 2015 in Libertyville, Il,. Jean was born on October, 25, 1932, in Berwyn, Il, to Arthur and Florence Schnurstein nee Pergler. Jean loved playing cards with her friends, she also enjoyed making greeting cards Jean also liked to fish, and bowl, and she was an avid Cubs fan. Lorraine A. Dobbels, 85, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 in Barrington, IL. She was born April 16, 1930 in Moline, IL to Charles and Odiele VandeMaele. Lorraine was a member of St. Mary of Annunciation Church and a volunteer with Sparrow’s Nest and the Condell Auxiliary. She was dedicated to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Duane F. Frahm

Duane F. Frahm, 79, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Autumn Leaves Memory Care in Vernon Hills. He was born February 13, 1936 in Chillicothe, MO to Ed and Dorothy Frahm. Duane was a guidance counselor at Bradley University in Peoria and Highland Park High School in Highland Park, IL. Duane enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and his pets. He loved nature and antiques. Duane was the loving husband of Kay, the father of Jennifer (Gary Miller) Pilcher and Stan (Jackie) Frahm, and grandfather of Nicolas and Zachary Pilcher and Denver and Logan Frahm.
