Robert Taylor
Robert Taylor, 72, passed away December 9, 2016, at his home.
Mr. Taylor was the eldest child of George and Blanche Taylor. He was born September 12, 1943 in Belleville, IL. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1961. He went to Illinois State University and completed a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree. Professionally, he coached basketball and taught math, physics and chemistry at several Illinois high schools and the College of Lake County. He spent most of his career teaching physics at Warren Township High School, where he taught from 1981 until his retirement in 2003.
He married Sharen McCall on August 13, 1966 in Auburn, IL. They were married for 49 years. They have been members of Faith Church in Grayslake, IL for 34 years.
Surviving are his wife, Sharen Taylor; his brother Alan Taylor, his children, Rhett (Constance) Taylor, Ryan (Tessa) Taylor, and Raegan (Jeremey) Towne; seven grandchildren and two nephews.
A visitation and memorial service will be held Monday, December 14 at Faith Church in Grayslake, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. The memorial service will commence at 6:00pm.
Viewing will be Wednesday, December 16 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, immediately followed by a funeral at Bramley Funeral Home in Auburn, IL with the Rev. Jeremy Towne officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery.

John A. Lindstrom, 87, a resident of Wildwood, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in Libertyville, IL. He was born February, 23, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Cidron and Anna Lindstrom. John was a US Marine veteran having served during the Korean War as a drill instructor in San Diego, CA. He married Phyllis Anderson on February 26, 1949. John had worked for 24 years and retired with IBM and previously worked for Illinois Bell. He especially enjoyed travelling with his late wife and was a ham radio operator with the call sign W9AZW. John is survived by his children Joleen Gialds, John Lindstrom, and Jeffrey Lindstrom, his grandchildren Douglas (Alisa) Gialds, Jonathan Gialds, and David (Sarah Pusateri) Gialds, and his great-grandchildren James, Lucas, and Ella Gialds. David A. Gudziunas, 62, a resident of North Chicago, IL passed away Monday, November 30, 2015 in Waukegan. He was born May 6, 1953 in Chicago to Adolph “Edward” and Anna Gudziunas. David was an Eagle Scout, had worked for Tower Products for 2 years, and was a retired patrolman for North Chicago after serving for 28years. He was an avid Packers fan, enjoyed musky fishing in the Northwoods, was a member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, and a lifetime member of Illinois Police Association. David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth, his daughter Sarah (Joshua) Grubbs, his grandchildren Charles, Cheyenne, and Jackson, his brother Daniel (Kathleen) Gudziunas, his one niece and many nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Dennis and Anthony, and his Uncle Stanley Jasper. Rosemary R. Thomas, age 86, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Journey Care Hospice Facility, in Woodstock. She was born in Chisholm, MN on December 2, 1928. She was raised in Hibbing, and moved to Chicago in 1946. Rosemary moved to Round Lake Beach in 1969. She loved quilting, sewing, and traveling with her husband in their motor home. Rosemary is survived by her children, Marina (Bill), Christina, Jim (Lori), Joseph C., Linda, Larry, and James Russell; ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albin and Mary Zalokar, her husband Joseph William “Bill”, her son John, her brothers, Albin and Edward, and her sister Francis Ranger. Angeline R. Sugrue, age 94, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015, at ManorCare in Northbrook. She was born in Chicago on August 1, 1921. Angeline moved to Cedar Village in Round Lake Beach over 30 years ago and, most recently, resided at ManorCare in Northbrook. Ange loved bowling, cards and bingo. She was known as the bead lady of ManorCare making hundreds of bracelets and necklaces. Angeline is survived by her children, Terrance (Darlene), Patricia (Paul), and Timothy (Kimberly); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lee and Steve. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Julia Wanderski and by her husband, Vincent. JoAnn Sweeney PhD, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2015 from complications of heart disease and cancer JoAnn was 83. JoAnn was born on August 18, 1932 to Clair and Margaret Sweeney (nee Sargent) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. JoAnn graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a BA in Latin studies. She furthered her education and received a Master’s Degree from the University of South Dakota. She also received a Master’s of Library Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. JoAnn taught Latin at North Chicago High School and went on to Loyola University to teach Greek classics to graduate students. It was at Loyola University JoAnn received her PhD, Doctor of Philosophy, Greek classics. JoAnn traveled the world to fulfill her classical studies by attending schools in Rome, Italy, and Barcelona, Spain. Survivors include her sister Kathleen Sweeney of Grayslake, Ill. JoAnn was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents, and her grandmother Mary Kelley. Many Friends and family will miss her. Funeral arrangements are private. Mary Malley Toussaint, 101 ½ years young, of Lindenhurst, IL, formerly of Skokie, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Victory Lakes Continuing Care Center. She was born on May 2, 1914, in Ithaca, New York, to Austin and Helen Malley. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Norbert. She was the loving mother of Mary Diane Simpson, Patricia Varco, Jeanne (John) Goshgarian, Norbert (Karen Brungard) Toussaint, Sharon (Daniel) McCarthy, and Valerie (Joseph) Nathan. She was the cherished grandmother of Daniel (Anna) Simpson, Michael (Stephanie) Simpson, Marie (Tommy Kaschke) Varco, Michael Varco, Valerie Varco, Diana Varco, Andrew Goshgarian, Anne Marie (Graham Kolb) Goshgarian, Gerard Goshgarian, Laura (Justin Hong) Goshgarian, Brian (Neha Kumar) Toussaint, Rebecca (Adam) Lowenstein, Adele (Hunter Stuart) Nathan, Joanne (Andrew Denenberg) Nathan. She was the precious great-grandmother of Eloise Simpson, Charles Simpson, Joseph Kaschke-Varco, Wesley Simpson, and Nathan Lowenstein. She is also survived by a large loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mary was a proud graduate of Cornell University and held a Masters degree from Pennsylvania State University. She had a successful career with the American Dairy Council providing nutritional programs for children in the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. While raising her large family, she was an active volunteer with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, her Catholic parishes, and all her children’s schools. Mary was a consummate traveler. She and her husband instilled a love of travel in their children as they crossed the country on long road trips. In her later years, she enjoyed cruises and European trips with her cousin Frances.
Mary spent the last fourteen years of her life as a resident of the Village of Victory Lakes. There she made many wonderful friends and enjoyed a wide variety of activities, including volunteering at B. J. Hooper School and at Allendale, serving as a member of the Residents’ Council, playing bridge, and singing with the Vocaleers.
Funeral services are planned for Monday, November 23, at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road, in Gurnee, with a gathering at 9:30 am and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. This will be followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Franciscan Communities’ Helping Hands Program or the charity of your choice.

Edward J. Sychta, 92, a resident of Grayslake, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Saturday, November 14, 2015 at his home in Grayslake. He was born July 9, 1923 in Chicago to Joseph and Lottie (nee: Urbanski) Sychta. Edward was a World War II veteran. He was a long standing President of the Vernon Hills Seniors Organization, he enjoyed the casino, but most of all he loved all of the family gatherings and being with his family. Michael D. Henderson
Michael David Henderson died on November 8, 2015 in Grayslake, IL due to complications following liver cancer. He was 64.
Michael was born on October 7, 1951 in Berea, KY to his parents, David and Connie Henderson. He graduated with honors from Florida Institute of Technology with a degree in Medical Technology in 1977. Michael worked in the healthcare field for many years before retiring to pursue his first love, traditional jazz music. He was an accomplished guitar player, holding the first chair in the University of North Carolina Big Band. He gave freely of his time playing for various charitable causes, infirmed seniors and teaching students interested in the traditional jazz genre. Michael was also an avid angler, beach comber, velocipeder and lover of John D. McDonald books.
Michael is survived by his mother Connie Henderson of Grayslake, IL; her son Scott Henderson; his wife Susan Henderson; their children Tyler Waugh and Max Henderson and son in-law Al Carlson. He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel David Henderson.

John A. Augustine, age 73, of Wildwood, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at his home. He was born March 22, 1942 in Waukegan to Willard and Fannie Augustine. John was a US Army veteran and was a member of the Lake County Farm Bureau. He worked at Lodesky Trucking and was a farm manager. Tammy Weir, age 48, a resident of Round Lake Beach, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015. She was born November 1, 1967 in Chicago. She was a sales associate at Kohls in Round Lake Beach. Tammy is survived by her husband Robert, whom she married on February 13, 2013. They had been together since May 1994. Also surviving are her father, William J. Richard M. “Dick” Geissinger, 96, of Wheeling, IL went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 7, 2015 surrounded by his family at Journey Care Hospice in Barrington Born August 12, 1919 in Huntingdon, PA to M. Clair Geissinger and H. Mary (nee: Streightiff). Richard was united in marriage to the late Doris Marie Hughes on December 29, 1943 in Huntingdon, PA. Richard’s greatest joys in life were his faith, his family, especially being a grandfather, and serving others. Dick was a caring and compassionate man in life. He was a member of the Kingswood United Methodist Church for 25 years and had worked as a Vice President and General Manager for ABM Elevator Services. Dick is survived by his daughter Jeri (William Lissimore) Apland, his granddaughter April Apland, his grandson Luke Apland, his great-grandchildren Payten and Rylie, and his brother Robert Geissinger of Huntingdon, PA. Helene H. Sywyk
Helene Hildegard Sywyk (born Hecker).
Helene, “Oma” was 90 years old when she passed away at her home early morning Saturday, November 7th, surrounded by loving family and friends at her bedside. She died of complications from a heart attack that occurred earlier in the week.
Helene was born in Silesia, Germany in 1925. In 1953 she married her beloved husband of 33 years, Stefan. In 1956 they immigrated to America, settling in Chicago, where they started their family. Their first son, Michael “Mike” was born in 1958, and Stefan ”Steve/Schtevie”, in 1962. Wanting to live in a more rural setting, they moved to Round Lake Park, IL, in 1970, and then to their current home in Round Lake in 1975.
Helene’s door was always open to people stopping by. Her kitchen table was the place of many discussions and meals with family, friends and anyone who sat down to wait for Mike or Steve for more than a minute. No-one was allowed to leave the house without eating something. She loved to cook, especially for others, and she loved food (especially kit-kat bars). She loved to spoil her grandchildren with yummy treats, usually offering them baked goods and other sweets. Helene loved cats and always had one around the house. Although each cat was unique, they were always named “mitzi” (kitty in German). Helene’s favorite hobby was gardening, she loved to plant and tend her flower garden….she absolutely loved flowers. She also liked to make good use of everything growing in her garden by preparing all-natural, home-made foods, cooking, baking her special “kuchen” and making jellies and preserves. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and traveling. She made several trips to Germany, California, Hawaii and numerous other destinations to visit family, friends and places of interest to her.
Helene was preceded in death by her loving husband Stefan, sole sister Gertrude, and Sister in-law Anastasia Malejkyj. She is survived by her 2 sons, Michael(Cindy) and Steve(Denice). “Oma” is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Tania(Jose), Crystal, Jennifer(Michael), Robin(Jeret), Michael and Laura, as well as 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel on Saturday, Nov. 14th, with viewing time starting at 11:30 am until 1:00pm with the funeral service commencing at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Avon Cemetery in Grayslake, IL.
There will be a reception with early supper following the burial, at Johnny’s Chophouse, 1500 Main St.(Rt 83), Antioch, IL 60002, all are invited to attend.
