Francis J. Melchert

Francis “Frank” J. Melchert, 53, a resident of Ingleside, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.  He was born September 13, 1962 in Evanston, IL to Francis and Olga “Augie” Melchert.  Frank was a 33 year member of the 217th Air National Guard and had most recently worked for Lambs Farm for the past 15 to 20 years.  He was an avid volleyball player.  Frank is survived by his wife, Debi, his mother Olga “Augie” Melchert, his children Nichole (Ernie) Matijevic, Gabrielle Melchert, Joe (Taylor) Wydra, Tyler (Katie) Wydra, Alex Wydra, Kiara Melchert, and Frankie Melchert, and his siblings Susan (Kess) Melchert, Leslie Conforti-Ramyk, and James (Maria) Melchert.  He was preceded in death by his father.  A visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with the service commencing at 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. R. George Hanner

George Hanner, 80, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 in Chicago, IL.  He was born August 11, 1936 in Lake Forest, IL to Henry and Louise Hanner.  George was a veteran of the US Air Force.  He loved to bowl, was a world traveler, enjoyed musicals, and was known to have the greatest smile in the world.  George is survived by his wife of 22 years, Judi, his children Dawn (Ken) Roucka, Erik (Kelly) Hansen, Dawnmarie (Luke) Rodriguez, Mark Hanner, Diane (DeShon) Jamerson, Joanne Hanner, and James (Stephanie) Hanner, his 9 grandchildren, his sister Judy Murray, his nieces Leslie (Mark) Williams and Judy (Pascal) Majon, and his nephew David (Susan) Hanner.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Scott Hanner, and his brother Gene Hanner.   A visitation and a funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm with a funeral service commencing at 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Kimberly A. Banks

Kimberly Ann Banks (nee: Kolb), 40, a resident of Fox Lake, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at her home in Fox Lake.  She was born February 29, 1976 in Clearwater, FL to Daniel and Eileen (nee: Seketa) Kolb.  Kim loved the water and boating.  She was a diehard Blackhawks fan. Kimberly was a loving, kind, and wholehearted friend who gave the best part of herself to those she loved-her children, family, and friends. Her beautiful smile would light up the room, the moment she walked through the door. It will forever be etched in our hearts. She had a contagious laugh that made those around her feel the joy of living life. Kimberly was a beautiful person with a beautiful heart who will always be remembered and never forgotten. “Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.” – Mother Teresa. Robert G. Stensloff

Robert G. Bonnie L. Rockenbach

Bonnie L. Rockenbach, 88, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Aug. 25, 2016, after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Rudy and Madge Winters. Bonnie was a 76 year resident of Grayslake, IL and attended Warren High School, where she met the love of her life,
Doug. They united in marriage June 28, 1947 after Doug returned from World War II. For
66 years she resided in their home on Westerfield Place, a home they “built with love.” Together they owned and operated Rockenbach Chevrolet serving all communities surrounding Lake County, IL. Bonnie always welcomed family and friends at anytime into her home. She had a willingness to listen and gave out heartfelt advice. She will be remembered as the “Mom” of the
neighborhood. Her passions were entertaining and cooking wonderful meals, knitting for
others, and she loved the challenge of solving crossword puzzles. She made a difference in
the lives of others offering generosity,  humanity, and kindness. Preceded in death by her youngest son Gary R. in 1995. Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Douglas A., her cherished children Gregg Rockenbach of Grayslake, Gail (John) Vitols of Lincolnshire,
IL, her granddaughter Stephanie Ponce of South Carolina, 3 great-grandsons; her brothers Gerry Winters of Grayslake and Mark (Helen) Winters of Paso Robles, CA, and her sister-in-law Marjorie Rasmussen of Colorado. She was a devoted aunt to all of her nieces and nephews, as well as all of their children. Kenneth Harper

Ken Harper, age 50, of Grayslake, passed away suddenly Tuesday, August 23, 2016 in Chicago.  He was born June 1, 1966 in Dayton, Ohio, to John and Virginia Harper.  Ken grew up in Parsippany, New Jersey and graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor of Science degree.  Ken worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 18 years, most recently with Heron Therapeutics as Senior Director, Trade Channel & Reimbursement Ops.   He loved to play tennis and was a New York Yankees and Jets fan.  He loved to spend his free time out on the patio by the pool, listening to music, smoking a good cigar, cooking on the grill, and enjoying his family and dear friends.  But, most of all, he loved his family. Stephen M. Combs

Stephen M. Combs, 40, a resident of Chicago, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016.  He was born September, 13, 1975 in Lake Forest, IL.  Stephen was a filmmaker, screenwriter, director and cinematographer.  He was particularly proud of his work with academy award winning cinematographer, Haskell Wexler and his role as cinematographer on the 2009 film, “The First Breath of Tengan Rei”. It was screened at Chicago’s Gene Siskel Film Center and many other film festivals nationwide receiving accolades from the industry and fans alike.  Stephen is survived by his parents Maureen and Russell Combs, his brother Alexander (Kelley) Combs, his nephew Bennett Combs, his aunts and uncles Jane and Gerry Manarik, Peter and Peg Scurto, and Cathy and Lynn O’Dell, his grandfather Leonard Barringhaus, and numerous cousins.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Meredythe and Russell Scurto and his paternal grandmother Ula Combs-Barringhaus, his paternal aunt and uncles Tom and Sharon Combs and Robert Barringhaus.  A visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 10:00am until 12:00pm, with a funeral service commencing at 12:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Robert F. Chuchro

Robert (Bob) F. Chuchro, age 78, of Round Lake, formerly of Chicago, passed away on August 5th after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his son Mark and his parents Victoria and John Chuchro. Beloved husband ofMarie Santoro (flee Wieszchowski); loving father of Roberta (and the late Scott) Baier, Donna (David) Bender and Michael (Chrissy) Chuchro. Bob was the cherished grandfather of David Bender, Stephanie (Brian) Dinter, Stacey Baier, Brian Bender, Anthony Baier, Kevin Bender, Melissa Bender, Willard Cofield, Amanda (Drew) Dickerson, Lillian Chuchro and Andrew Chuchro; dear great grandfather of Brandon Baler, Jonathan Bender, Koda Bender, Koraline Bender, Kristy Cofield, Carter Cofield, Cayden Dickerson, McKayla Chapman, and Gwenith Chapman,; fond brother of Lorraine (Donald) Clouston and Dorothy Chuchro; special uncle to Christine (Jerome) Kadleck; fond uncle and loyal friend to many. Bob enjoyed the Bears, the Cubs and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all. Eleanore T. Lindh

Eleanore T. Lindh, 91, a long-term resident of Grayslake, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016.  She was born October 16, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Frank and Madge Reiser.  Eleanore was a long standing member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church and was a member of the choir.  Eleanore is survived by her sons John Lindh, Tom Lindh, and David (Margaret) Lindh, her grandchildren Aimee (Tom) Renkes, Kevin Lindh, Sarah Lindh, Ryan Lindh, Kemble Lindh, and Bridget Lindh, her great-grandchildren Rosalindh Renkes, Robert Renkes, and Tara Renkes, her sister Dorothy White, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  A visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 26, 2016 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Paul M. Zwiener

 

 

Paul M. Zwiener, age 57, of Wildwood, IL passed away Friday, August 12th, 2016 in Libertyville, IL. He was born September 5th, 1958 in Blue Island, IL to Dietmar and Antoinette Zwiener.  He was a member of the Boscobel Midwest Great River Rally.

Paul is survived by his children, Michael Zwiener of Phoenix, AZ and Jessica Zwiener of Gurnee, IL. his siblings Victoria Ardizzone, Lucinda (Kevin) Carruthers of Homewood, Brian (Lisa Rigsby) Zwiener of Bourbonnais, IL, and Roberta (Verne) Bauer of Crestwood; and nieces and nephews, Brian Maxwell, Elliot Carruthers, Antoinette Zwiener, Scott Bauer, Mackenzie Zwiener, Celeste Bauer, and Jacob Zwiener,  his girlfriend, Connie Ostrowski. He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Michelle, and sister, Celeste.

Bonnie L. Kowalski

Bonnie L. Kowalski, 46, a resident of Round Lake Heights, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2016 after her courageous fight.  She was born July 24, 1970 in Colorado Springs, CO to John and Kyung Sook Dersam (nee Chang).

Bonnie loved to cook and she also loved Disney and the Minions.  She shared a love for the New York Yankees, NASCAR and traveling with her husband, Bud, of 27 years, and her family. She married her husband, Bud, on July 29, 1989 in the gazebo of their Grandpa Bud and Grandma Ruth Podhola’s home in Round Lake Heights.

 She was a dedicated employee of Allstate for 28 years and had many friends that she loved.

 Bonnie is survived by her husband, Bud; son, Steven Mitchell of Round Lake Heights; her father, John J. Dersam of Orlando, Florida; “Mom” Boots Romich of Round Lake Heights; siblings, Brenda (Deacon Marcelino) Hernandez of Waukegan, Florea (Raj) Thind of Orlando, Florida; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.  She was preceded in death by her mother; her grandparents; and her father-in-law, Jim Romich.

 The family wishes to thank Dr. Barbara Drevlow for her loving care and compassion. We would also like to thank all of the Doctors, Nurses, PCTs and Staff from the North Shore Hospital Groups of Highland Park, Evanston, and Glenbrook who helped with her care.  Bonnie loved the sunshine and asked that you enjoy the sunshine and think of her.

William F. McGrath

William F. McGrath, 78, a resident of Third Lake, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016, at his home.  He was born October 6, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Alphonse and Hazel McGrath.  Bill attended and graduated from St. Mel’s High School in 1955.  He was the past co-owner of Durty Nelly’s in Palatine and had worked for Illinois Bell/AT&T for 35 years.  Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judith, his children William Jr. (Tracy), Patricia (Mark) Filippini, Stephen (Pom), and Michael, his grandchildren Meghan,     William III, Daniel, Alex, Angela, and Anna, his sister Jean Spino, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings John, Florence, and Kathleen.  A visitation and funeral service are scheduled for Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 10:00am until 11:00am with a funeral service at 11:00am at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Patricia M. Wicinski

Patricia M. Ronald William Siggeman, 78, of Grayslake, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at his home.  He was born June 23, 1938 in Chicago. A retired sheetmetal worker for Local 73 of Chicago, Ronald was also a member of the Free Masons.  He was the widower of Katherine E. Linda B. Meek

Linda B. Meek, 60, a resident of Park City, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born April 12, 1956 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Margaret Moss.  Linda had worked for Cardinal Health for many years.  Linda is survived by her husband of 27 years, Paul, her daughter Dawn (Stephen) Territo, her granddaughter Samantha Ann, and many family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Eddie Moss, and her first husband Kenneth Tulik.  Friends of the family may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Mary Soder

Mary Soder, age 76, of Grayslake passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.  She was born October 12, 1939.  A member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Mundelein, Mary was also active in the Exchangettes Club, Grayslake Park District, and St. Mary’s Church.  She was a retired Office Manager at Country Companies.  Mary is survived by her children, Lynn (Rich) Legner, Scott, Pamela (Rob) Saam, Veronica Fisher, Don Fisher, Denise Hughes, David (Christi) Fisher, Karen (Larry) Hildebrandt, 22 grandchildren, 21great-grandchildren,  and one brother, Marty (Pat) Heischberg.  She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore, her parents, two children, Cherie and Ted and five siblings. Deborah A. Billeck

Deborah Ann Billeck passed away at the age of 64 on July 20, 2016. Beloved Daughter of Elaine Billeck and the late Frank Billeck. Loving Mother of Hilary Clostermery, Althea Smith, Megan Merriman and Emilie Clostermery. Proud Grandmother to Milo, Silas, Ellie and Cora. She is survived by nine siblings: William (Bill), Denise, Frank, Robert (Duck), Donna, Diane (Sam) Mary, Bernadette & Dominick (Nick). A treasured friend to many. She was a graduate of Grayslake High School (1970) and Northern Illinois University, DeKalb (1974). Bryce William Carus, 76, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away July 6, 2016 at Burr Oak Manor in Genoa City, WI.  He was born September 14, 1939 in Chicago, IL.  He received his BA degree in Engineering from the University of Illinois, began his career at Stewart-Warner and retired from Alcatel-Lucent.  Bryce loved to roller skate and was a regular feature at the Round Lake Roller Rink for many years.  Bryce is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary, whom he married at St. Gilbert Church in Grayslake.  Other survivors are his much-loved children, Kristen (Greg) Gomez, Sinead Carus, Sean (Diane) Carus, and his grandchildren, Joseph and Brendan Gomez.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.  Memorial may be made to the Salvation Army or the American Cancer Society.

                                                                                     

Kathleen A. Crowley

Kathleen Ann Crowley, age 76, of Round Lake, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 12, 2016.  She was born June 30, 1940 in Chicago to Walter and Kathryn (nee Kuehner) Crowley.  Kathy loved the Blackhawks.  She also loved to crochet and loved to bake and make cookies. Kathy had a very generous heart.  She is survived by her siblings, William (Claudia) of Highland Park; brother-in-law, Robert Silvestri; nieces, Christine (Gary) Johnson of Round Lake, Laura (Michael) Gonzalez of Lindenhurst, and Michelle Silvestri of Mundelein;  and great-nieces, Jacquie (Vadim) Silvestri of Gurnee ; Missy Gonzalez of Mundelein; and Toni Johnson of Round Lake.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Ann Silvestri.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  All arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.  For information, call 847-223-8122 or visit www.strangfuneral.org.
