William F. McGrath

William F. McGrath, 78, a resident of Third Lake, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016, at his home.  He was born October 6, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Alphonse and Hazel McGrath.  Bill attended and graduated from St. Mel’s High School in 1955.  He was the past co-owner of Durty Nelly’s in Palatine and had worked for Illinois Bell/AT&T for 35 years.  Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judith, his children William Jr. (Tracy), Patricia (Mark) Filippini, Stephen (Pom), and Michael, his grandchildren Meghan,     William III, Daniel, Alex, Angela, and Anna, his sister Jean Spino, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings John, Florence, and Kathleen.  A visitation and funeral service are scheduled for Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 10:00am until 11:00am with a funeral service at 11:00am at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Patricia M. Wicinski

Patricia M. Ronald William Siggeman

Ronald William Siggeman, 78, of Grayslake, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at his home.  He was born June 23, 1938 in Chicago. A retired sheetmetal worker for Local 73 of Chicago, Ronald was also a member of the Free Masons.  He was the widower of Katherine E. Linda B. Meek

Linda B. Meek, 60, a resident of Park City, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born April 12, 1956 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Margaret Moss.  Linda had worked for Cardinal Health for many years.  Linda is survived by her husband of 27 years, Paul, her daughter Dawn (Stephen) Territo, her granddaughter Samantha Ann, and many family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Eddie Moss, and her first husband Kenneth Tulik.  Friends of the family may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Mary Soder

Mary Soder, age 76, of Grayslake passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.  She was born October 12, 1939.  A member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Mundelein, Mary was also active in the Exchangettes Club, Grayslake Park District, and St. Mary’s Church.  She was a retired Office Manager at Country Companies.  Mary is survived by her children, Lynn (Rich) Legner, Scott, Pamela (Rob) Saam, Veronica Fisher, Don Fisher, Denise Hughes, David (Christi) Fisher, Karen (Larry) Hildebrandt, 22 grandchildren, 21great-grandchildren,  and one brother, Marty (Pat) Heischberg.  She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore, her parents, two children, Cherie and Ted and five siblings. Deborah A. Billeck

Deborah Ann Billeck passed away at the age of 64 on July 20, 2016. Beloved Daughter of Elaine Billeck and the late Frank Billeck. Loving Mother of Hilary Clostermery, Althea Smith, Megan Merriman and Emilie Clostermery. Proud Grandmother to Milo, Silas, Ellie and Cora. She is survived by nine siblings: William (Bill), Denise, Frank, Robert (Duck), Donna, Diane (Sam) Mary, Bernadette & Dominick (Nick). A treasured friend to many. She was a graduate of Grayslake High School (1970) and Northern Illinois University, DeKalb (1974). Bryce W. Carus

Bryce William Carus, 76, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away July 6, 2016 at Burr Oak Manor in Genoa City, WI.  He was born September 14, 1939 in Chicago, IL.  He received his BA degree in Engineering from the University of Illinois, began his career at Stewart-Warner and retired from Alcatel-Lucent.  Bryce loved to roller skate and was a regular feature at the Round Lake Roller Rink for many years.  Bryce is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary, whom he married at St. Gilbert Church in Grayslake.  Other survivors are his much-loved children, Kristen (Greg) Gomez, Sinead Carus, Sean (Diane) Carus, and his grandchildren, Joseph and Brendan Gomez.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.  Memorial may be made to the Salvation Army or the American Cancer Society.

                                                                                     

Kathleen A. Crowley

Kathleen Ann Crowley, age 76, of Round Lake, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 12, 2016.  She was born June 30, 1940 in Chicago to Walter and Kathryn (nee Kuehner) Crowley.  Kathy loved the Blackhawks.  She also loved to crochet and loved to bake and make cookies. Raymond S. Jarecki

Raymond S. Jarecki, 73, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at his home with his family beside him.  He was born August 25, 1942 in Chicago, IL to Stanley and Helen Jarecki.  Ray was a longtime Brunswick employee and White Sox fan, enjoyed golf, retirement, the company of friends and family, and took extreme pride in his grandchildren.  Ray is survived by his sons Richard (Meagan) Jarecki of Littleton, CO and Jim (Christine) Jarecki of Grand Rapids, MI, grandchildren Matthew, Jessica, Addison, Kelsey, and Carson, special friend Judy Arrington, cousins Ann (Andy) Plonka and Walter (Mary) Jarecki, several nieces and nephews, and his former wife Georgene Jarecki.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Emmit H. Lehman

Emmit H. Lehman, 86, a resident of Grayslake, IL passed away Monday, July 11, 2016. He was born May 16, 1930 in Jackson, MI to Clarence and Mary Lehman. Emmit was a veteran having served with the US Army and was a Scout Master and Cub Pack Leader with the Boy Scouts. He worked in the food industry his entire career. Emmit enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, and most of all was a devoted husband and father. Gregory A. Pankow

Gregory Allen Pankow, 69, of Third Lake passed away Monday July 11, 2016 peacefully at home with his wife and daughter by his side, after a brief illness. He was born May 10th, 1947 in Chicago to Edwin and Emma Pankow. Gregory was baptized into the Christian faith on May 25th, 1947 and made public confession of his faith at his confirmation on September 19th, 1982. He married Donna Mae Krumrey on April 30th, 1983. Their first home was in Libertyville and later moved to Third Lake, IL. After graduation from high school, where he was a member of ROTC for 4 years, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served for 5 years during the Vietnam War. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserve for 4 years. He had great love and pride for his country. He also worked for Northwest Airlines for 39 years in the capacity of Equipment Service, and had many friends there. Greg was very involved in play activities with his two grandchildren, Maddy and Jonny, and his cat Neo. His pride and joy were his flower gardens. For 32 years he was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Libertyville by volunteering for many activities. He also was a recipient of a heart transplant and survived almost 5 years. Previous to that he endured an external heart pump for 17 months. He endured the many trips to St. Lukes Hospital in Wisconsin with his devoted wife Donna and by his strong faith. Greg leaves behind his beloved wife Donna (nee: Krumrey) of 32 years, loving daughter Deanna (her former husband Jeremy) and cherished grandchildren Madison and Jonathan Aiken. He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Emma Pankow. Greg also leaves behind his brothers Eddy (Cathy) Pankow of Marengo, IL, and Kenneth (Marilee) Pankow of Florida and sister Eileen (Roger) Harris of Kansas and nieces and nephews Jeana, Justin, Kathy (Gary), Richard (Liz), and Michael (Diana). He leaves behind brothers-in-law Eddie (the late Mary) Krumrey, Donald Krumrey and sister-in-law Nancy (Roger) Santagato and also many distant relatives and many caring friends at his church where he participated in evening and Sunday morning Bible class. Jose Villamil Alonzo, age 86, of Hainesville, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Michelle Kowalski-Helle

Michelle Kowalski-Helle, age 57, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016. She was born March 5, 1959 in Southampton, PA. She was an architect and mother. Michelle is survived by her husband, Robert H. Helle whom she married on September 16, 1989; daughter, Emily; son, Andrew; brother, Nick; sisters, Celeste and Lisa. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen; and father, Andrew. Michelle was born in Pennsylvania, the oldest of four children.  She graduated from the University of Notre Dame as an architect.  As a young girl she knew she would go there, despite the fact that it was not open to women.  She was very proud to be part of the fifth class of women admitted to Notre Dame. There she met the love of her life, her husband Bob. She worked as an architect in Chicago until Emily arrived, and the family relocated to Prairie Crossing in Grayslake shortly after Andrew came along. Everything Michelle did, she did beautifully and with passion; cooking, knitting, quilting, gardening, and designing. She was deeply committed to her family, a wonderful listener, a devoted sister, and a dear friend to many. A visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. ROBERT W. LOWERY

Robert W. Lowery of Wildwood, IL was born in St. Louis on May 25, 1953. He passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at home after his courageous battle with cancer.

 

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Marilyn (nee Burtscher) Lowery; his brother Milton James Lowery Jr. (Barbara), his sisters Mary Catherine Zeilmann, Margaret Ann Ellison (John), and Dr. Carol Rose Lowery, as well as several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Milton James and Mary Lorene (nee Cantrell) Lowery and brothers-in-law Clarence (“Red”) Zeilmann and John Rotter.

 

Bob was a loving and devoted husband to Marilyn, and a wonderful father to their adopted Australian Shepherd, Shelby. Bob had been on medical retirement from Cardinal Health since 2013. As a 23-year heart transplant survivor, Bob faced countless medical challenges over the years. He faced those challenges with courage, tenacity, strength of spirit, perseverance, and unfailing good humor, for which he was admired, loved, and will always be remembered. As a young man, Bob joined VISTA as a volunteer to work on the Native American reservations in Nebraska. His concern for those who can’t speak for themselves made him a strong life-long supporter of animal rights and a confirmed dog lover. Bob was also an avid Blackhawks, Bears, and White Sox fan.

Retha Moore

Retha Moore, 78, passed away June 26, 2016, at her home in Round Lake Park, IL. She was born August 11, 1937, in St. Bernice, IN. Retha’s family moved to Chicago when she was very young. While living in Chicago she met her future husband and later they moved to Round Lake Park, IL. Retha spent her youth going to Riverview in Chicago and became a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan. She was a factory worker at Intermatic Inc. in Spring Grove until she retired. Her interests included anything with the Chicago Cubs, Elvis, sunbathing, Abbott and Costello, the beach, and family. Retha is survived by her son Darren Moore and her grandchildren Sierra and Serena Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Moore, her parents Robert and Rachel DeBolt, and her brother Charles DeBolt. Larry Ray Brewer

Larry Ray Brewer, 80, a resident of Round Lake Beach, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born February 17, 1936 in Woodstock, IL to Charles and Ruth (nee: Gathman) Brewer. Larry was an veteran having served with the US Army. He was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed fishing, and loved family gatherings. Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Laverne, whom he wed on August 29, 1964 in Palatine, IL, his daughters Cynthia (Robert) Birr of Cary, IL and Ruth (Steve) Jones of Dallas, TX, and his grandchildren Kyle and Katie Birr and Joshua Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lenore Larson. Ruth Miller

Ruth Miller, 63, a resident of Round Lake Beach, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 3, 1953 in Libertyville to Richard and Jeanette (nee: Dunn) Edwards. For most, you may think of death as the final page.  However, for Ruth Miller, the woman formerly known as Aunt Fudge, Ruru, Pretty Grandma, Grandma, wife, sister and mom… Her memory lives on through every life that she’s touched. Always thinking of everyone else around her, more than herself. Ruth is survived by her husband of 40 years, Perry, her daughters Kelly (Jesus) Martinez of Fox Lake, Ashley (Tim) Volling, and Sydney Taylor of Round Lake Beach, her grandchildren Adrian, Divinity, Jenica, Sophia, and Greyden, and her brother Rick (Brenda) Edwards of Twin Lakes. Germaine M. Blanchard

Germaine “Jeri” M. Blanchard, 81, a resident of Saddlebrook Farms in Grayslake, IL, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, at her home. She was born January 14, 1935 in Stacyville, IA to Chryst and Mildred Mullenbach. Jeri had many artistic talents including interior decorating, sewing, and playing the piano. She was a member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church in Grayslake. Jeri was the loving mother of Mike (Mary), Terri (Steve) Fabbri, Chris (Tammy), Doug (Jennifer), and Lisa, loving grandma of Dylan, Nick, Jenna (Andrew), Tara (Jason), Alyssa (Cory), Matthew, Jonathan, and Emily, and loving great-grandma of Hannah, Evan, Ryder, Piper, and Lincoln. She was also survived by her sisters Marie (the late Duard), Elaine (the late Harold) Elizabeth (Ron), and Karen (Bill) and her brothers Melvin (Marilu), Eugene (Katie), David (Sandra), Don (Sue) and Tom (the late Pat). She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years Richard Blanchard. Mercedes L. Wisniewski, 24, a resident of Round Lake Park and Lakemoor, passed away from natural causes, July 1, 2016. She was born January 13, 1992 in Waukegan. Mercedes is survived by her parents Kathy (David) Kemppi and Robert (Lisa) Wisniewski, her fiancé Ricky Stevens, her children Anastazya Wisniewski and Natalie Stevens, her siblings Alexis Wisniewski, Ace Wisniewski, and Gage Kemppi, her grandparents Leslie Doering, Jerry (Pat) Wisniewski, Patricia Donile, and William (Barb) Jones, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Maxine L. Leckman

Maxine L. Leckman, 96, a Lake County resident of 69 years, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at her home in Libertyville. She was born January 11, 1920 in Hayfield, MN to Nordean and Julia (nee: Simonson) Lee. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Maxine was a charter member of Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Grayslake and had worked as a nurse at Condell Medical Center for 17 years. She enjoyed square and round dancing, camping clubs, travelling, and volunteering at her church. Maxine is survived by her children Jerold (Elizabeth) Leckman, Allen (Saline) Leckman, Julie Leckman, and Sandra Leckman, her grandchildren Christine (Kokkay) Mun, Karen (Mark) Schweiss, David (Megan) Leckman, Ann (Jerry) Kennedy, and Steven (Colleen Murray) Leckman, and her great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Esther, Ella, Owen, Quin, Benjamin, Alexander, and Madelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Curtis D. Leckman, and her sisters Norice Norlander, Carol Fornander, and Judy Howell. A visitation and funeral are scheduled for Friday, July 8, 2016 from 9:00am until 11:00am with the funeral service commencing at 11:00am at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church 285 E.
