Dorothy M. Rosene, 89, a resident of DeKalb, IL and former long time resident of Grayslake, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at Oak Crest in DeKalb, IL. She was born April 9, 1929 in Wausau, WI, to Fritz and Hilda Poeske. Dorothy was a former member of the Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Grayslake and a current member of Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore. Dorothy is survived by her children Stephen Rosene of Shabbona, IL and Michael Rosene of Carbondale, IL, her grandchildren Pammela (John) Cooper of Soddy-Daisy, TN, Jonathan (Megan) Rosene of Blenheim, New Zealand, and Richard (Jen) Sweeney of Melissa, TX, and her 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Wilbur Poeske and Alfred Poeske, her sister Margaret Poeske, and her husband George. Donald P. Abbinanti
Donald Phillip Abbinanti, 78, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at his home in Grayslake on December 7, 2018. He was born on Dec. 4, 1940 in Waukegan, IL, son of the late Phillip and Annette Abbinanti. He attended elementary and high school in North Chicago. Don was an Evans Scholar at Northwestern University, receiving his degree in 1963. He married Carol Gillespie in 1966 in Waukegan. Shortly thereafter Don served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service. He was employed by Abbott Laboratories in finance, retiring after a 25+-year career. Among his other pursuits, he enjoyed golf and traveling.
Don is survived by his wife Carol, son Jack (Julie) Abbinanti, daughter Cathy (Peter) Greenlaw and son Michael Abbinanti, grandsons Daniel and Dale Abbinanti, granddaughters Lily Abbinanti and Jessie Greenlaw, great-grandson Chase Abbinanti, sister Mary Hollinger, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jeanie D. Wiles
Jeanie D. Wiles passed on Thursday, December 6, 2018. She was born in Lima, OH on February 5, 1961. She lived most of her adolescent life in northwest Ohio. She came from a large family which include her brothers, Robert (Amy) Mohler and Michael (Cindy) Derrow; sisters, Dawn (Michael) Schilling, Laura Mann, Ginger Dempsey, Debra (Michael) Baker, Vicky (Dave) Knoth, Jodi (Richard) Schaffner, and Sue (John) Timms. She graduated from Put-In-Bay High School in 1979. Her greatest joy was having children. Jessica Klamm was born in 1980 and James E. Dunn III in 1982. She also has 3 grandchildren, Jason Carpenter, Helene Klamm, and Aurelius Dunn.
Jeanine loved children and ran a very successful in-home day care on the naval base. She later worked as a personal secretary, computer operator, paralegal and real estate closer. She retired with her husband in 2007. She was married to Timothy P. Wiles for 31 wonderful years.
She opened her home on occasion to family and friends who needed a safe place to stay. She became a member of the Gift of Hope Donor Program through the State of Illinois. She believed in recycling and even in death she continues to help others. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.

William T. Giova, 92, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in Libertyville, IL. He was born October 26, 1926 in Italy to Tony and Nina Giovacchini. William was a World War II veteran having served with the US Navy from 1944 to 1946 aboard the USS Walter X. Young. He was a member of St. Mary of Annunciation Church. William is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Anne, his children William A. Marilyn R. Shaver
Marilyn R. Shaver, age 64, a resident of Lindenhurst, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville after a three year battle with liver disease. She was born October 12, 1954 in Waukegan to Murlin (Bud) and Loretta Marshall. Marilyn was an aviation enthusiast, who, earlier in life, had earned hours towards getting her pilot’s license. She also loved to travel, especially her trips to Hawaii. She is survived by her domestic partner of 22 years, Scott Corlett; her children, Adam (Meagan) Shaver of Johnsburg and Eric Shaver of Lindenhurst; her brothers, Les (Carmella) Marshall of Grayslake and Bruce (Marilyn) Marshall of Port Orange, FL; and her beloved dog child, Pogo. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Daniel Shaver. Beverly H. Hubbard
Beverly H. Hubbard, age 67, a long-time resident of Grayslake, passed away November 23, 2018 after a hard-fought battle against breast cancer. Bev demonstrated her kindness, loving spirit and bravery until the end. As a devoted member of the Lake County community, Bev worked 30 years at the College of Lake County, retiring in 2014 from the Foundation Office, where she helped raise scholarship money for students. She was also active in the Exchange Club of Grayslake, The Lakes Region Watercolor Guild as Membership Chair, Chicago Calligraphy Collective as Vice President, and a Lake County Election Judge volunteer. Bev was a member of St. Gilbert Church in Grayslake. Bev enjoyed taking day trips to hiking destinations with her husband, Kurt, kayaking on Grayslake where she lived for 41 years, and running her business—Calligraphy by Bev—in which she both penned and taught calligraphy and cursive writing. Born July 8, 1951 in Chicago, IL, Bev is survived by her husband of 46 years Kurt L. Hubbard, daughters Jennifer Hubbard and Kate Hubbard (Brian Heath), sister Bonnie Hollifield, as well as many other family members. Bev is preceded in death by her parents Rudolph Bartell and Bernice Bartell (Schroeder). A visitation/mass will be held in Bev’s honor on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the St. Gilbert Chapel, 301 E. David L. Campbell
David L. Campbell, age 65, a resident of Round Lake, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. He was born on March, 5, 1953 to Julian and Josephine Campbell. Born in Chicago, he moved with his family to Mundelein when he was two years old. David graduated from Mundelein High School and attended the University of Illinois majoring in U.S. History and Physical Education. He was employed by Penray Company, Inc. in Wheeling as a purchasing agent for 42 years before recently retiring in July 2018. Dave loved to golf and he especially enjoyed his annual golf trip to Florida. He also spent a great deal of time fishing with his twin brother, Michael, right out his back door on Highland Lake plus their annual fishing trip to Canada. David is survived by his brother Michael of Palatine; sister Cheri (Ron) Marander of Spring Grove; stepmother Mary Campbell of Pleasant Prairie, WI; step-sister Georgina (David) Buckley of Lake Villa; step-brother Patrick (Linda) Rodriquez of Viroqua, WI; niece Melanie (Rodney) Miller of Spring Grove and children, Tristen and Chace; and niece Michelle (Jim) Hart of Libertyville and children Elaina, Quinten and Halie. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ron, a step-brother Michael Rodriguez, and a step-sister Kathleen Pfister.

Krista M. Hook
On Sunday, November 18, 2018, Krista M. Hook, daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away suddenly at the age of 31 years.
Krista was born December 18, 1986, in Lake Forest, Illinois and grew up in Lake Villa, Illinois. She attended Grayslake High School and studied psychology at the University of Iowa and Northeastern Illinois University.
Krista was endlessly giving, adventurous, caring and lived in the moment. She loved trying new food, practicing yoga, and improving her fitness and health. She was a firm supporter of equal rights, and cared about family above all else.
Krista will be forever remembered by her parents Lawrence and Diane Hook, by her grandmother Ann Hook, by her brothers Nate (Kristi) and Brian (Christina) Hook, by her nieces Becca and Cami, and by her boyfriend Ron Heslop. She was a corporate travel manager during her lifetime. Sophie T. Michno, 96, passed away on November 11, 2018. She was the beloved mother of Christina Ritter, Ronald Michno, and Ron’s wife, Pauline; grandmother to Jessica and Alissa Ritter and Pauline’s children, Elizabeth, Connie and Ray; sister of Joanne Boratyn; nephew, James Boratyn and Bernadette (Jimmy and Melissa Boratyn and Jackie Boratyn); nieces, Linda, Marilyn and Carol, and their three children Maureen, Gerald and Christine. Forever friend Kathy Paavilainen and her daughter Bridget were angels who looked over her for too many years to count! Lawrence “Larry” R. Fox, 86, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away November 6, 2018 at his home. He was born January 25, 1932 in Waukegan to Lawrence and Mary Fox. Larry was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War, earning the Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Korea Medal, Nation Defense Service Medal, and Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Operators Union 150 and a member of St. Mary of Annunciation in Mundelein. Larry was a lifelong workaholic and enjoyed boating. He was a loving man who was well liked by everyone he knew. He was always willing to give a helping hand and will be terribly missed by all. Rita Maria Denison
Rita Maria Denison, age 88, of Grayslake, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at Winchester House in Libertyville. She was born September 12, 1930 in the province of Cosenza, Calabria, Italy to Alberto and Francesca Cappano. The oldest of three girls, Rita grew up in the Italian countryside with her sisters, Eda and Emma. She met her husband, Malcolm, on a trip to England in 1957. They fell in love and married on March 29, 1958 without being able to speak each other’s language. Together they welcomed their only child, Maria, in 1959. Maria married Michael Kennedy and gave Rita three grandchildren, Marty (Andrea), Michelle (RJ), and Mandy (Charles). Rita had four great-grandchildren, Madelynn, Kiley, Lillyana, and Scarlett. Rita enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her great-grandchildren. She was known for her jokes and pranks. She would gladly reminisce about the mischief she had been a part of in her youth (usually she was the ringleader). Rita and Malcolm followed their daughter to the United States in 1987. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, and sisters. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Michael Herman, 45, of Gurnee passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018 at his home. He was born on September 27, 1973 in Lake Forest, IL. He was a laborer for the Warren Township Highway Department. Jacquelin J. Schippers
Jacquelin J. Schippers (née Liautaud), 87, of Grayslake, Illinois, formerly of Northbrook, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on November 3, 2018, fittingly on the feast of St. Martin de Porres; the Patron Saint of mixed race peoples. She was born April 17, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, to John Numa and Ethel May Liautaud (née Johnson). She married the love of her life, David P. Schippers Jr. on April 19, 1952. David preceded her in death by thirty six days. Jackie graduated from St. Scholastica Catholic High School in 1949. As a lifelong learner, later in life, she received a Bachelor’s Degree with honors from Northeastern Illinois University . She published Happy Warm Yesterday’s dedicated to future generations. She devoted her life to her husband and family. Jackie, also known as Granny to all who knew her, gave the most incredible hugs. She loved hosting great big parties with family and friends. Granny cooked a mean batch of red beans and rice. Her New Orleans roots defined who she was and what she loved. Kathlene “Kay” Utter, 79, of Grayslake passed away on November 2, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. Kay was born January 3, 1939 in Lima, WI to Lee and Margaret Collins. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She was a beloved mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Kay is survived by her children, Mark (Deb) Utter, Linda (Joe) Ludford, Valerie (Kevin) Wold, all of Lake Villa, IL and Vincent (Gabriela) Utter of Lindenhurst; her grandchildren, Jordan and Natasha Seger, Scott (Brittany) and Steven (Caitlin) Wold, Monica, David, and Morgan Ludford, Jamie and Ashley Utter, Gabe Roman, Fotini and Curt Utter; her great-grandchildren; Ava, Kali, Vera, Joshua, Kylie and Brett. Ruth M. McCandless
Ruth Marion McCandless (nee: Rosener), 91, a resident of Antioch, IL, passed away Sunday October 28, 2018 at Libertyville Manor in Libertyville, IL. She was born on January 12, 1927 in St. Louis, MO. She moved to Libertyville in 1968 and worked as the secretary to the principal at Highland Middle School in Libertyville for many years. Ruth is survived by her children Susan (Bernie) Parry of Commerce Township, MI and Barry (Betsy) McCandless of Libertyville, IL, her grandchildren Colleen Lill (nee: McCandless) and Scott (Katie) McCandless, her great grandchildren Eleanor, Rohan, and Mackenzie. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Clair McCandless, her sister Gladys (Will) Feldmeier, and her parents Emil and Hilda Rosener (nee: Hendersmann).
