Robert A. Nykaza Sr., age 75, of Grayslake, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019 in Lake Forest at Northwestern Medical Center. He was born October 7, 1943 in Chicago to Bernard and Mary Nykaza. Robert was a union member of Local #17 Heat and Frost Insulators for over 45 years and a parishioner of St. Gilbert Catholic Church. He loved spending time in Wisconsin at the cabin he built as well as visiting his family in Michigan. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family as well as golfing, and fishing. Robert is survived by his children Robert Nykaza Jr. and Jeff (Jennifer) Nykaza Sr., his grandchildren Ariana Nykaza, Jeffrey Nykaza Jr., Elizabeth Nykaza, Mikayla Nykaza, and Nathan Nykaza. Ronald E. Munts
Ronald E. Munts, age 87, of Grayslake passed away on July 19, 2019. He was born in Streator, IL on February 21, 1932 to the late Charles Munts and Dorothy Munts-Bruni. He graduated from Grant Community High School in 1951. He served in the Army during the Korean era from 1951-1953, serving in Germany as Corporal. He was a member of the United Protestant Church of Grayslake, American Legion Post #659, Rising Sun Lodge #115, and Eastern Star Libertyville Chapter #438. He worked as a machinist for over for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Stang) Munts; whom he married in 1956. His children, Joanne (Dennis) Vojcak, Bradley Munts, William (Sharon) Munts, Dorothy Madrigal; 17 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; his brother, Charles (Millie) Munts; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; and sister, Carol Chaney.

Dorothy Claire Setzer, 90, a resident of Lindenhurst, IL, entered into eternal life Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. She was born December 29, 1928 in Neola, IA to Paul and Edna Eckrich. Dorothy was a longtime communicant of St. Gilbert Catholic Church. She loved square dancing and was a member of the Woodshed Whirlers from Johnsburg. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, gardening, bird and butterfly watching, crossword puzzles and watching the Wheel of Fortune. Dorothy created a home full of love that spanned many decades and six states. Virginia “Ginny” Lee Kolseth nee Dobbs, 90 passed away July 15th at Warren Barr Lincolnshire. She was born on December 23, 1928 in Chicago , graduated from Morton High School (Cicero, IL) and graduated from the University of Miami (FL). She worked for Equitable Insurance where she worked until 1958. In 1956, she married Donald and they raised their family in Bellwood, IL, where she enjoyed working as a substitute teacher as well as a teacher for children with special needs. She retired when Don was transferred to Louisville, KY in 1968. Ginny loved water skiing, golf, knitting, sewing, quilting and travel. They retired in Lake Geneva, WI, where she enjoyed volunteering with Immanuel Lutheran church’s after school program and knitting prayer shawls. Beloved wife of Donald Kolseth for 63 years, loving mother of Donna (Peter) Eckert, Kurt (Mary Kay) Kolseth, proud grandmother of Lee Eckert, Melanie Eckert, the late Linda Eckert and the late Benjamin Kolseth. V. June Spehn, age 92, of Round Lake Beach and formally of Northbrook, passed away on July 14, 2019 in Round Lake Beach. She was born on June 22, 1927 in Rosholt, Wisconsin to Hans and Julie (Lee) Hagen. June loved to golf, summers at the cabin with her husband, playing the organ and knitting. Round Lake – Helen E. Todd (nee Masters), age 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 6, 2019, in Crystal Lake surrounded by her family. She was born on April 10, 1927 in Chicago. Helen worked in a variety of occupations throughout her lifetime where she was able to offer her attention to detail, great organizational and managerial skills. Post-retirement, Helen stayed active by volunteering at Alexian Brothers Hospital for a number of years and then volunteering at the Village of Round Lake Police Department. Helen endeared herself to so many friends, family members, and neighbors offering a helping hand when she recognized a need. Her friends and family always enjoyed lively conversations with her, amazed by her ability to recall details from events eighty decades earlier and her willingness to share the many lessons she had learned along the way. Helen is survived by her children James (Tina) Todd; Janice (George) Losson and Judy (John) Bender; grandchildren Russell (Colette) Todd, Brandon (Ella) Bender, Caila (Steve) Klimczak; two great grandchildren Corbett Todd and Jean Bender; sister Myrtle Layton; and many nieces and nephews. Louis M. Jens
Louis Michael Jens, 44, a resident of Grayslake, IL passed away in Honolulu, HI on June 23, 2019. He was born on May 7, 1975 in Skokie, IL to Howard Jens and Gale Cook. Louis was a Local 130 Engineering Technical Journeyman. He lived every day to the fullest by being a mentor and inspiration to his children. He instilled in them the value of hard work and kindness, and would always tell them “do unto others as you would want done to yourself”. Louis was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family and neighbors, even when you didn’t ask. Louis coached for the Grayslake Colts since 2007, and also ran and coached the Grayslake Wrestling Club since 2012. He taught athletes that “they never lost they either won or learned something”.
Louis is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jennifer (nee Witt); his children , Joseph, Matthew, Abigail, and Katherine; his mother Gale (Steve) Cook; his sister, Nadine (Paul Herman) Jens; his brothers Brian Cook, and Jim Cook; his aunts and uncle, Barbara (Bernie) Weiss, Roberta (Larry) Alexander, and Marc (Connie) Jens; his mother-in-law, Alice Witt; his brothers-in-law Eddie (Robyn) Witt and Jimmy (Emily Cooper) Witt; his sister-in-law, Vicki (Jeremy) Green; his nieces and nephews who lovingly called him “Uncle Louie”, Brianna, Rebekah, Noah, Mollie, Emelia, and Abraham. As well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard (Gerry Lynne) Jens and father-in-law, Greg Witt.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Round Lake Civic Center, 2007 North Civic Center Way, Round Lake Beach, IL 60073. Steven J. Leider
Steven Jay Leider, 71, died Friday, June 28, 2019, at his home in Grayslake. Born in Morton Grove, Ill., to Marion (Haupt) and Richard Leider, he graduated Forest View High School in 1966. He then married Margaret “Marti” McAteer on Nov. 25, 1972. Shortly after, with the support of his family, Steve opened Leiders Garden Greenery. Over the next four decades, he grew into an integral piece of the Grayslake and St. Gilbert’s communities. In addition to 60-hour weeks in the greenhouse, Steve volunteered for church committees, coached numerous soccer and basketball teams, and built a loving family alongside a successful business. Steven is survived by his three children, Megan (Tom Henkey), Brian (Caitlin Zvoleff) and Nicholas (Megan Weekley); partner Diane Lyle; sisters Cathie Burns (Al), Sue Devanie (Terry) and Chris Bohlmann (Mike); and two golden retrievers, Dylan and Daisy.

Rudolf Erich Malz, 81, of Hainesville, passed away June 19,2019 at his home. Rudy was born on January 2, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Rudolf and Erna (Mudroch) Malz. He attended Valparaiso University. Rudy worked at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago for many decades. He was an active member of Prairie Circle Unitarian Universalist Congregation, and was involved in their Social Justice Committee and children’s education. Rudy loved singing and was a member of many choirs over the years, including Bel canto Chorus in Milwaukee. He enjoyed gardening and especially loved roses. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. He particularly enjoyed his trips to Germany to visit family. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters more than anything.
Rudy is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer (Rex) Williamson of Williamsville, IL and Leslie Malz of Arlington Heights, IL; two granddaughters, Hannah (Aaron) Foss of Sandwich, IL and Rebecca Williamson of Williamsville, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothea (Walt) Muente and Dolores (Herb) Stride; one brother, Manfred (Marilyn) Malz; and his former wife and friend, Sandra Malz.

Lourdes “Ending” Juralbal Calulot, 81, a resident of Round Lake, IL, passed away June 1, 2019 at Warren Barr in Lincolnshire, IL. She was born May 8, 1938 in Matayumtayum, Tarlac Philippines to Hermogenes Juralbal and Marcelina Martinez. Ending was a loving mother who managed to raise her kids on her own. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and adored her great-grandchildren. Her passions included cooking, sewing, and watching Filipino soap operas. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed planting roses, money trees, and fortune plants. She shared these passions and touched so many lives, and she has been respected by all who knew her.
