Elaine C. Francis, 93, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Thrive of Lake County in Mundelein, IL.  She was born May 25, 1927 in Oak Park, IL to Herbert and Hattie Peterson.  Elaine was a member of the United Protestant Church in Grayslake, IL.  Elaine is survived by her children Cindy (Randy) Timmel and John (Mary) Francis, her grandchildren Christy (Casey) Webb, Rich (Natasha) Landerholm, Ryan (Christine) Landerholm, Melissa (Andy) Leisernring, Amy (Chris) Stenz, and Megan Francis, her great-grandchildren Nathan, Charlie, Owen, Kyle, Dylan, Addilyn, Audrianna, Madison, Olivia, Natalie, and Anna, and her nieces and nephew.  She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Francis, her son Mark Francis, her parents, and her siblings Herbert Peterson and Charlotte Rydberg.  A visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 9:00am to 10:00am with the funeral service starting at 10:00am at the United Protestant Church 54 S. Walter Christian Figge, age 92, passed away on December 12, 2020 in Lindenhurst, Illinois. He was born on March 11, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Alma Reichert and Christian Figge.  Walt grew up in Chicago, Illinois, attended Taft High School and received an Associates degree. Walt met the love of his life, Patricia Figge, and they were married while he was stationed overseas in Europe with the Army for two years. They would have been married 70 years this December 23, 2020. Walter worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company for nearly 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Marlyn Figge (nee Whiting) of 69 years, 11 months whom he married on December 23, 1950 in Jefferson Park, Illinois; his children, Terese Lynn Bell (Warren Bell), Grayslake, IL and Cynthia Lou Figge (Steven Zuhl), Issaquah, WA; grandchildren, Warren Walt Bell, Marissa Lynn Bell, Jessica Louise Figge Zuhl, Ross William Figge Zuhl. Wayne Edwin Bauer, age 63, a resident of Mundelein passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview.  He was born on April 16, 1957 in Chicago to Edwin and Lucille Bauer.  Wayne loved being outdoors whether it be fishing, hunting, spending his time at his house in Florida or on his farm in Wisconsin. But most of all he loved spending time with his family. Felicity Christina Patrick passed peacefully in the loving arms of her mother on December 6, 2020. During her brief time with us she touched thousands of lives. Her courage, strength, and bravery in the face of a devastating disease inspired all who knew her. We take comfort knowing that Felicity is dancing in heaven, free of the pain that plagued her in life. We know that she now has an unlimited supply of sparkling Christmas lights, teal pacifiers, and candy wrappers; her absolute favorite. Although she never laughed or spoke, she communicated her desires in a way that earned her the nickname of “Lissy cat” equal parts sweet and sassy. Oscar Muniz, 80, of Lake Zurich, Illinois passed away on November 28, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born to parents Benito and Andrea Muniz on January 10, 1940, in Raymondville, Texas. Being one of 10 children, Oscar didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education. He helped provide for his family by working the fields of various farms. He married Minnie, the love of his life, in 1957, and completed their family with a daughter and son. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to find opportunity far from his hometown. He found a home in Lake Zurich in 1967. At that time, Oscar began a career at Adlai E. Stevenson High School. Simply known as “Oscar”, his kindness and eagerness to help made him a beloved fixture at the school by both faculty and students alike. He retired from his Security Guard position in 2007 after 40 years of service. In 2008, he was given the Heritage Award in recognition of how his contributions provided a powerful legacy for the Stevenson community. Oscar was known for his love of family, cooking, and sports. A familiar sight was him commanding a grill to make his famous BBQ chicken. He inflicted his love of football and baseball on all who knew him. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan and Chicago Cubs fan, his last wish for a World Series victory was realized in 2016. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and coaching youth sports. Oscar is survived by his children Melinda Perry (Lyle) and Oscar Jr (Sharon); grandchildren Rachel, Abel, Adrian, Jacob, Ethan, Eva and great-grandchildren Anabella, Aiden, Lyla. He was affectionately known as “Dad”, “Pops”, “Big O”, “Pappo”, and “Grandpa O”. Donald W. Leininger, 89, passed away at his home in Lindenhurst, IL on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Don was born in Philadelphia, PA to Walter and Barbara Leininger on November 9, 1931 and then moved to Akron, IN where he spent his school years. He graduated from Indiana University in 1955 and married Lettie Jane Rentschler on October 30, 1955. Don and Lettie recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Don spent 20 years as a pilot in the Air Force. He logged over 11,000 flight hours during his military service, primarily flying C-124, C-54 and C-118 transport aircrafts. In 1968, he served in Vietnam as a liaison between the Air Force and the Army receiving the Bronze Star. Military trips took him around the world, and he delighted his children with the unique gifts he would bring home from his travels. Thanks to his military service, Don and Lettie raised their three children all over the United States.

In high school, Don excelled at basketball, a sport he continued to play later on in life. He loved planning family camping and road trips. These trips included visits to Southern California/Mexico, Oregon and Colorado. Don’s favorite role in life was that of a grandfather. Whether it was his unique storytelling, playing computer games or a practical joke, Don brought the fullness of life to each and every visit, memories crystallized in his family’s hearts by his big explosive laugh.

In the final years of his life, Don battled Parkinson’s disease with dignity and grace. He still had a laugh and a smile for those around him and kept his optimism until the very end. He is survived by his wife Lettie and his children, Dan (Jen) of Layton, UT, Julie Vander Weele (Ron) of Chicago, IL and Chris of French Lick, IN; and grandchildren Megan, Allison, Emily, Will, Max, Abe and Van. The family requests any memorial gifts be made in Don’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Angel I. Baasch, age 80, of Paddock Lake, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020.  She was born on January 22, 1940 in River Grove to David and Ceceile Raysby. She is survived by her children, Jane, Tyrone (Shelli), Tyler (Lisa) and Timothy; her grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, Marina, Kira, and Abby; her great grandchildren, Bradley, Nicholas, Jr., Thomas, and Kinsley; her brothers and sisters, Keith, Craig, Barbara, Lillian, Art, Christine, Sam and Madge; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William and David.

Lina Williams DuBay passed away at home on November 29, 2020 after a more than 10-year battle with progressively worsening dementia.  Lina was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to the late Sally Linder and Percy Bryant Williams on October 25, 1934.  She was the last survivor of her 5 siblings. 

Lina graduated from Central High School in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  Lina married Roger DuBay on September 1, 1956.  Roger was career Navy, so the family had the opportunity to live in many places. Given Roger was frequently deployed, Lina was a full-time homemaker and mom.  The family moved to Illinois in 1974 when Roger retired from the Navy and lived in Wheeling, Gurnee and Libertyville prior to building their current residence in Grayslake.  Prior to her illness, Lina and Roger enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to live in England for about 1 year.

Lina is survived by Roger her husband of 64 years and their daughter Donna DuBay Campagna and her husband James Campagna along with their two children Rachel Sophia Campagna and Garrett James Campagna and his wife Rachel.  Sadly, Lina and Roger’s only son Roger Junior passed away in 1989.

Kenneth Parrish, 86, passed away on November 24, 2020, following a brief illness.  Kenneth served proudly in the Marines for 21 years, worked with many Veteran groups after his retirement and was a lifelong member of the Marine Corps league.  He was excited to be apart of Lake County Honor Flight #8, and visiting the many military memorials and Arlington Cemetery.  He is survived by his wife, Carol; his sons, Jeff (Sue) Parrish, Mark (Cathy) Parrish; his daughter, Tami (Michael) Fisher; his daughter-in-law, Leda Parrish; and his step-daughters, Mary Cunningham Stavrou and Kelley (Frank) Cunningham Lanuto.  He loved being Grandpa (Papa) to his 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie; his son, Kevin; and his great-grandson, Marty Pletz.  A memorial service will be held at a later date, followed by burial at Fort Sheridan.  As he always said, “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”

Daniel Edward Hartlieb, 57, a resident of Round Lake, passed away at Condell Medical Center on Saturday, November 28, 2020.  He was born January 29, 1963 in Chicago, IL to Norman and Rosemary (Abt) Hartlieb.  Dan graduated from Grayslake Central High School and was currently employed at LifeFitness in Franklin Park.  He was a member of the DOMC and was involved in various organizations while his kids were in school.  Dan loved nothing more than spending time with his family and was very proud of his kid’s accomplishments.  He was a diehard Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks fan and enjoyed cheering them on every chance he got.  He very much enjoyed going to concerts and festivals with his friends and they were some of his fondest memories.  Dan married Judith Ann DeVillers on May 30, 1992 and they loved each other for 28 years.  Together they raised two wonderful children Cortney and Scott.  Dan is survived by his loving wife, Judy, children Cortney and Scott, siblings Norman (Ellen) Hartlieb of Kenosha, WI, Mary Alice (Ray) Dudra of Chicago, mother-in-law Agnes DeVillers, his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Sharon (Bruce) Meulemans, Marilyn (Duane) Buss, Gloria Betzinger, and Kathleen (Charles) Crossman, David (Stephanie) DeVillers, Dawn Wisinski, and  Debbie DeVillers, Sandy (Mark) Jermolowicz, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  Dan is preceded in death by his grandparents Hartliebs and Abts, his father and mother, his brother Charles “CJ”, his sisters Lynn and Sharon, his father-in-law August DeVillers, and his brothers-in-law Robert “Jake” Jacobs, John Lesatz, Wayne DeVillers, and Daniel Betzinger. Margarete C. Molidor passed peacefully away at home on November 27, 2020. Born in Chicago in 1936 to first generation Dutch immigrants, Jacob and Elsie Stob, she moved to Lake County (Ingleside) in 1944. Maggie graduated from Grant High School in 1953, and in 1954, married Gerald C. Molidor, Sr. They were married 56 years, and raised five ‘spirited’ children—Marcie M. (Mark) Wilhelmi of Augusta, Georgia, Gerald C. (Kathy) Molidor, Jr. of McHenry, IL, Christa C. Molidor of Salt Lake City, Utah, Susan M. (John) McClelland of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Cara M. (Brett) Lovrien of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

In 1969, Jerry and Maggie moved in to the homestead on Fish Lake Road which has been the site of many happy weddings and large family gatherings for nearly 52 years. After her first career as a busy mother of five, she became the Treasurer of the Village of Round Lake in 1990, a post she held until 2007. She had many wonderful life-long friends, many who traveled together to golf and gamble. There were many exciting trips to Hawaii and Europe with family and friends as well.

In addition to her children, Maggie is survived by her brother, Dr. John A. (Lois) Stob of Peoria, Arizona, brother-in law, Joel (Patti) Molidor, sisters-in-law Janet (Ted) Stefaniak, Jeanne Kristan of Round Lake, IL, and Mary Jo (Tom) Lucas of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Maggie was blessed to have 11 grandchildren: Gerald C. (Ashley) Molidor, III, Naperville, IL; Sara M. (Ted) Markos, Lombard, IL; L.J. (Christy) Wilhelmi, Atlanta, Georgia; John R. (Sarah Beth) Molidor, Marietta, Georgia; Joshua J. (Julia) Jensen, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mark M. Wilhelmi, Atlanta, Georgia; Andrew M. McClelland, Augusta, Georgia; Colleen M. McClelland, Alpharetta, Georgia; Sydney M. Lovrien, Brooke A. Lovrien and Olivia J. Lovrien, all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

She was a much-loved GG to 12 great-grandchildren: Ava Margarete, Reagan Louise, and Gerald Charles Molidor IV; Catarina Grace and Panagiotis Theodoros Markos; Charlotte Grace and Ellison Ruth Molidor; Harper Maddox and Reese Collins Wilhelmi; Liam Adam, Carter Axel and Charlotte Aubrey Jensen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry in 2010, her brother, Jack (Barb) Stob in 2008, her parents, in-laws, brothers-in-law Bob (Jeanne) Kristan in 2018, and Jack (Yvonne) Molidor in 2020, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

A COVID observant wake will be held Sunday, November 29th from 4 to 6 p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvedere, Grayslake, IL. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 30th at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 114 Lincoln Avenue, Round Lake, with the Rev. Timothy O’Malley presiding.
