Dustin Keefe passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. He was born on January 22, 2004 to a loving family with two older brothers, Kyle and Trevor Keefe. He was on the Grayslake Colts tackle football team at a young age and learned endurance quickly. He played soccer with the AYSO, Grayslake H.S. and FCLC. This was his love and we went to numerous tournaments. He was strong and fast, always on the field.
With great grades, he schooled at home through the pandemic. He worked at Portillo’s and enjoyed the fast pace. Dustin planned on practicing and reentering the soccer tournaments since Covid was allowing sport activities. He was excelling at basketball and was a good challenge to try to beat! He wanted to be a dentist since he was young, and we had a plan ready along with other options. Everything was extremely positive for Dustin.
He was a member of St. Gilbert church where he was baptized and first communion and last rites. He made his confirmation through St. Paul the apostle church. He volunteered at Feed my starving children, and PADS in Grayslake setting up sleeping areas for homeless.
In middle school he was in band and played trumpet, his instructor was amazing and at the competition the group performed Superman concerto. Dustin picked up music by ear and played on his digital piano.
Dustin had a kind heart and would give to others first, even if it took from him. He will be sadly missed by so many. Our baby, friend, brother, and young man is in peace now.
He is survived by his parents, Roark and Renee Keefe; brothers, Kyle (Malarie) and Trevor Keefe; grandmother, Antoinette Habas; uncles and aunts, Patrick and Carolyn Keefe, Clarence and Kathleen Scherich, Edward Habas; and numerous loving cousins!
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marjorie and Patrick Keefe and Joseph Habas.
All funeral services were held privately. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lurie Children’s hospital. For more information, please call (847)223-8122 or visit www.StrangFuneral.org.
