Dena Ann Mitchell, age 78, a resident of Grayslake, passed away on October 1, 2021 at her home. Dena was born on August 15, 1943 in Chicago to Elmer and Violet (nee Padgitt) Granberg. She was a Spiritualist in her faith. She was an original Mickey Mouse Club Member and lifelong Cubs and Bears fan. Dena was a Girl Scout Leader for 20+ years, past PTA president of both Dever Elementary and Steinmetz High School, and a volunteer at the Elk Grove Village Library. Judith A. ‘Judi’ Ennesser, 81, of Grayslake, IL passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL after a short illness.
She was born on April 24, 1940, in Chicago, IL to Emil Rindt and Ethel (Skau) Rindt.
She loved her family very much and she was an avid animal lover. She often rescued stray cats that nobody else wanted. She had two beloved cats at the time of her passing (Buddy and Jasper) that will be adopted by a family member. She had a heart of gold and a smile everybody loved. She had a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh. She was always a hard worker and retired from Walmart at the age of 70.
She is survived by her sons Robert (Ann) Ennesser III of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Joseph (Gina) Ennesser of Twin Lakes, WI; daughter Julie (Tom) Pawlak of Palatine, IL; her sister Nancy (Bob) Wiswald of Round Lake Beach, IL and her brother Robert (Shannon) Rindt of Hilton Head Island, SC: eight grandchildren, Robert (Courtney) Ennesser of Winnetka, IL, Steven (Becky) Ennesser of Mequon, WI, Lauren Ennesser of Columbus, OH, Joseph Ennesser of Kenosha, WI, Joshuah Ennesser of Kenosha, WI, Lindsay Ennesser of Milwaukee, WI, Amanda Hendricks of Marcus, IA and James Pawlak of Palatine, IL; 4 great-grandchildren, Robbie Ennesser, Jack Ennesser, Ivy Ennesser and William Ennesser; and many nieces and nephews.

Deanna K. Medenwaldt
Deanna Kay Medenwaldt, 59, was a loving and charismatic wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt and beautiful person, inside and out. She passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 28th in her long-time home in Third Lake, IL. Deanna had a deep appreciation and love for art and music, often spending much of her time sketching while listening to her favorite artists.
Deanna had a smile that could light up a room and a sense of humor that could make anyone’s day better. Her ability to make the people in her life feel loved unconditionally, no matter the circumstances, was admired by all who knew her.
Deanna, daughter of Holger and Gloria (Frederick) Nielsen, was born on October 24, 1961. She spent the first thirteen years of her life in Glenwood City, Wisconsin, where she was a “town kid” in her early childhood and then lived on a small farm with her parents, sister and brothers. In 1974, she moved to Baldwin, WI, where she spent her teen years in a cozy home in the woods on Pine Lake. Deanna graduated from Baldwin-Woodville High School in 1980. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and graduated in 1982 with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing. Her career in retail spanned over a decade. In 1992, she met the love of her life, Tom Medenwaldt.
She leaves her husband, Tom, daughter, Leah, mother, Gloria Fern, sister Karen Nielsen, stepsister Cyndee Fern, stepbrother, Dan Fern, brother-in-law Brian Fox, sister-in-law, Stevie Rexroth, brother-in-law, Mark Medenwaldt, sister-in-law Jeanne Medenwaldt, brother-in-law, David Medenwaldt and many well-loved nieces, nephews, and amazing friends. Deanna was preceded in death by her father, Holger Nielsen, brothers, John and Christian Nielsen, stepbrother, Jeff Fern, and stepfather, Dale Fern. Linda E. Reimers
Linda E. Reimers, 56, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan, IL. She was born May 20, 1965 in West Virginia to Salias Smith and Sierra (nee: Smith) Leffew. Linda enjoyed watching movies and being with family, especially her grandkids. She was a welcoming presence to all that knew her, even taking in some of her children’s friends when they needed help, becoming like a mother to them. She was always stern, but fair. John E. “Jack” Burkett
John E. “Jack” Burkett, 82, of Waukegan, Illinois passed away on September 28, 2021. He was born May 9, 1939 in Waukegan, Illinois, son of William and Ella Burkett. His first marriage of 25 years was to Karen Brunette. On April 25, 1987 he married Diane Hagedorn (nee Walther) of Vernon Hills, Illinois. Jack is predeceased by his brother Bob.
Jack was employed at the Waukegan News-Sun composing room for 31 years. He also worked as Operations Manager for Portals Plus, Inc. in Bensonville, Illinois for seven years, after which he retired and relocated with Diane to Sun City West, Arizona. His hobbies included newfound Arizona gardening, lifelong fixing just about anything for friends and family, and helping out everyone he knew or came across. Beginning in 2008, Jack and his wife Diane began working with the Friday Night PORA Bingo and became permanent volunteers. Jack’s wife Diane passed away March 17, 2010.

Donna Mae Roberts (nee: Green), 63, a resident of Hebron, IL, passed away September 25, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington, WI. She was born June 10, 1958 in Lake Forest, IL to Lennie and Alvie Green. To know Donna was to love her, because she loved life. Donna Mae was a free spirit who lived life on her own terms. She was an avid baseball fan, bringing an electric energy to the stands. Her energy didn’t end there, because she loved music, could find a groove with anything and danced to her heart’s content, teaching her kids all her greatest moves. The risks Donna took while working for the C.I.A. gave her the thick skin needed for her adventurous life. Donna enjoyed spending time and being with the love of her life, Mike, her loving boyfriend. Donna’s greatest joy was the family she created with her beautiful children, Micah, Becky (David) and Adam (Cora). Known by “Nana” to some and “Grandma” by others, Donna was so very proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved watching her grandchildren grow and spending time with them all, which meant everything to her. Donna was fun, beautiful and as charming as anyone could be. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, because to know Donna, was to lover her. We will miss you. Marianna Gettelman, age 49, of Round Lake, passed away on September 25, 2021 at Loyola Hospital in Maywood. She was born on January 16, 1972 in Mexico. Parents are Juventino and Juanita (nee Rangel) Aldana. Marianna owned her own taxi business since 2001 and loved to bring her beloved dogs with her to work. Marianna was very creative and loved to travel. She was a selfless person who most of all loved her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Gettelman, whom she married in 2016; her parents; her step-daughter, Sienna Gettelman; her siblings, Rohmzez Ixexi, SanJuanita (Tom Ellison) Gonzalez, and Sara Aldana; and two nieces and a nephew.

She was an avid user of Facebook and was always learning something new. She was a caring wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt. Jeffrey W. Phillips
Jeffrey (Jeff) William Phillips, age 55 of Trevor, WI passed away unexpectedly with his loving family by his side on September 10th, 2021. Jeff was born the son of Roger and Lorraine (Krawczyk) Phillips on October 19th, 1965 in Waukegan, IL. Jeff grew up in Trevor, WI and enjoyed working on the family farm. Jeff met his wife AnnMarie (Dagens) Phillips in his late 20s and they were united in marriage on November 21st, 1992 in Antioch, IL. Jeff and Annmarie started a family and they had three children, Devin, Jenna, and Sarah. For many years Jeff was an operating engineer with local 150. While Jeff was in the union he also built and remodeled many homes with his wife. For a period of time the family moved south to Kansas City, MO where Jeff and AnnMarie purchased DigRite excavating. After a while Jeff and AnnMarie decided to move back north. Jeff continued his career with the union and in his free time enjoyed collecting and restoring antique gas engines as well as some tractors and vehicles. Jeff was always a very hardworking man and would bring a smile to everyone with his sense of humor.

- Michael Paul Hare JrMike died unexpectedly on September 9, 2021 at the age of 41. Born on November 5, 1979 at the Millington Navel-Hospital, Millington, TN, Mike was the first-born child to Linnea and Michael Hare Sr. of Round Lake Beach, Illinois. Mike was preceded in death by his grandfather Robert Riley and his aunt Karen Hare Taha. Mike is survived by his wife Katrina Lowry Hare and his two children, Michael III and Kalyssa of South Milwaukee. Also surviving are his siblings, Chrissy, Jason, Vicky, and Kevin, Grandmother Lodeen Riley Lauer of Mt Prospect, and Grandparents Joanne and Bill Hare of Ft Myers, Florida. Mike has numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins living in the Chicago metropolitan area. Mike graduated from Round Lake High School in 1998 and was a member of the 1997/1998 football teams. Known as the life of the party, always with a bright smile, he loved to play the drums. Drums were his passion. He dreamed of making it big someday. Laurie K. Knudson
Laurie Kay Knudson (nee: Hrdlicka), 67, a resident of Volo, IL, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 after a three year battle with cancer. She was born in Beloit, Wisconsin on July 21, 1954 to the late Bernice (Coppersmith) and Glenn Hrdlicka. She was a graduate of Maine Township High School West in 1972 and attended Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, graduating in 1976. Laurie’s career of over 40 years was spent in the insurance industry. Laurie enjoyed vacationing in Jamaica and the islands each year, bringing the tropical feeling back into her home. Her favorite downtime activities were her love of her dogs and her home. She also loved gardening, holiday decorating, and was known for her collection of Barbie Dolls. She leaves behind two older sisters, Diane Hrdlicka of Washington State, and Sherry Swickard of California, brother in-law Joseph Swickard, niece Gail Swickard of California, and a nephew Mark Swickard of Tennessee. Laurie was preceded in death by her husband Kevin Lee Knudson. Laurie will be greatly missed by many friends who all had a special place in her life and heart, especially her long time friend Kris Welk.

Juanita A. Lehman, 89, a resident of Lake Zurich and former resident of Grayslake, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021. She was born October 22, 1931 to Chester and Ruth (nee Klinger) Thatcher in Van Wert, Ohio. Juanita was a teacher, beginning her career at an elementary school in Ohio. She raised her family during a pause in her career, and later returned to teaching high school students at an alternative school in Illinois. Juanita enjoyed reading and homemaking, was interested in health and nutrition, and most of all was a devoted wife and mother.
Juanita is survived by her children; Dale (Kathy) of Baltimore, MD, Gary (Marcy) of Denver, CO, Sheryl (Alfonso) Acevedo of Volo, and Linda of Palatine; her grandchildren, Andrea (Bill), Geoffrey, Melissa (Matthew), Jocelyn, Elizabeth (Joe), Samuel, and David; and her great-grandchildren, Bridget, Samara, Gabriel, Rose, Eve, and Orion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmit Lehman; her brother, Gerald Thatcher; and her parents.

Jerome “Jerry” Michael White, born March 11, 1939 in Kansas City Missouri, died peacefully at home in Grayslake, on September 5, 2021. His health has been restored and he can run free again!
Jerry is survived by his wife Jane, son George, daughter Anne Marie LeGrand and son in law Mark LeGrand and step children Jillian Tonge, Dennis Tonge, Joanne Gray, Carolyn Marshall and Suzanne Kontrimas. He was the proud grandfather of Cassidy and Perri LeGrand and a happy step granddad to Drew Stegmeier, Ryan Tonge, Carolyn Tonge, Luis Tonge, Madison Hartwig and Kyle Marshall. Five great grand kids filled out the Christmas shopping list.
Jerry was raised in Colorado and returned to the Rocky Mountains later in life. He lived for his family and golf. Golf was his singular passion and at one time he played in several golf leagues at the same time. His only Hole In One happened at a course in Clearwater, FL.
He followed the rules during his younger years and enjoyed mischief as he got older. He traveled from one coast to the other in a large Winnebago motorhome. Some trips lasted almost a year!

Hazel I. Gaddis
Hazel Irene Gaddis, age 95, of Robinson, IL passed away September 6, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born on August 27, 1926 in Robinson. Hazel began her working career during World War II with Western Union Telegraph Services informing families of the tragic loss of their loved ones. Together Hazel and her husband, Glenn, were owners of three restaurants and later became involved with Lewis University in Romeoville, IL with Food Services–Cafeteria, Wedding Receptions and Special Events. Retiring in Southern Illinois in 1980, Hazel then worked in the healthcare field and continued her travels to many states and foreign countries. She was a member of the American Legion, Elks Club and Moose Lodge in Robinson, IL; the Daughters of the American Revolutionary War; and the Women’s Christian Club. She was the loving and devoted mother to Ronald William Gaddis of Robinson, Shirley A. Gaddis of Joliet, and Sharon K. (Robert) Siddon of Carterville. She is further survived by seven grandchildren, Richard A. Gaddis of Grayslake, Kimberly (Terry) Miller of Joliet, Rodney (Jimmie) Gaddis of Linn, MO, Regina C. Gaddis of Robinson, Rhonda (Rick) Collins of Diamond, Tara Siddon of Carterville, and Jimmie (Courtney) Hairald of Joliet; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Myrtle Mae (Metheney) Keller; her husband, Glenn Richard Gaddis on February 1, 2001, whom she married at the First United Methodist Church in Palestine on November 20, 1943; and four brothers, Dewey, Moran, William and Clell; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at Highland Church of Christ, 500 West Highland Avenue, Robinson, IL 62454 on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with the Reverend Samuel Totten officiating. Friends of the family may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow at the New Robinson Cemetery. Barbara J. Bonde
Barbara Jane Bonde, 88, a resident of Round Lake Beach, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2021 at Harbor Chase of Long Grove Assisted Living Facility. She was born on April 2, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois, to Catherine and Kenneth Bonde.
Barbara graduated from Grayslake High School and Illinois State University in Normal. She taught school for several years and then worked in the medical field in Chicago for 10 years before devoting her time and talents to her blossoming antiques business. In 1969 she established The Country Boutique Antiques Shop in Hainesville which she operated until 1998. She loved buying and selling antiques and enjoyed her customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. She had a reputation of fairness and honesty in the field. She kept her interest in antiques, buying and selling out of her home until recent years.
Barbara was a fun-loving aunt to her 4 nieces and 1 nephew. They all loved summer vacations at the lake with ‘Aunt Barb’ and Grandma, where they were treated to lots of fun activities, that always included antiquing and shopping!
She was a great entertainer, hosting many parties in her home for family and friends. She especially loved having the family for Christmas celebrations, which were always very special!
Barbara is survived by her brother Kenneth Bonde and his wife Betsy, her brother-in-law Charles Baker, her niece Catherine VanLeuven and her husband Doug, her niece Jean Armstrong and her husband Chris and her niece Susan Baker, her 9 great nieces and nephews and her 4 great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Catherine and Kenneth Bonde, her sister Betty Ann Baker, her niece Karen Bonde Stasko and her nephew Eric Bonde.
Barbara’s family will celebrate her life at a private Memorial service. Frank R. Torrez
Frank Richard Torrez, age 86 of Antioch, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 in McHenry, IL. He was born in Chicago on January 16, 1935 to the late Marcos and Anna Torrez. Frank worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for over 46 years. Frank is survived by his children Francine (Lee) Tran, Doreen (Edward) Ruder, Frank Torrez, Christine (Edward) Gentry, Joseph Torrez, Michael Torrez, and Sabrina (Michael) Lindsay; his grandchildren Joshua, Christopher, Ryan, Ashley, Kristy, Austin, and Lillybeth; and his six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Yvonne Mae Torrez. Laeila A. Schubert
Laeila A. Schubert, 83, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. She was born July 15, 1938 in Chicago, IL. Laeila worked as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher for Indian Hill School in Round Lake from 1984 until her retirement in 2004. Laeila made an impact to many young lives during her years as a teacher.
Laeila was a kind and loving mother and grandmother who touched many hearts during her time here. She was very social and made many wonderful friendships along the way. Laeila had a contagious laugh that would bring a smile to any face in her presence. Laeila enjoyed shopping, dancing, picnics, and social activities. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Laeila is survived by her son Erik (Anna) Schubert, and her grandchildren William Grant Schubert II, Kara Schubert, and Johnny Farrell. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Esther Amann, her daughter Krestin Ann Schubert, and her husband William Grant Schubert. A visitation and funeral service are scheduled for Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 10a.m. to 12p.m. with the funeral service commencing at 12p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.
