Anita B. Larson, a resident of Antioch, passed away Friday May 3, 2013, at the age of 74. She was born October 17, 1938 in Berwyn, IL to Anton and Helen Vacek. Walter A. Kazakeich

Walter A. Kazakeich, a resident of Grayslake and formerly of Glenview, passed away Sunday May 5, 2013 at the age of 73. He was born June 9, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Walter and Harriet Kazakeich. Walter was a veteran of the US Army and had worked for the Niles Public Works for over 33 years. Amanda S. Pompeo

Amanda S. Pompeo, age 27, of Antioch, IL, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at home with her loving family by her bedside.  Amanda was born June 16, 1985 in Lake Forest, IL.  She loved playing softball in High School, and anything outdoors, including the many camping trips with her friends and family.  Amanda was a lover of tie-dyed t-shirts and summers by the pool.  She had an infectious personality and smile that will always be remembered.  Amanda is survived by her parents Thomas and Francine Pompeo; her beloved daughter Lily Salgado; her grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.  She was preceded in death by her brother Joshua Pompeo.  Friends of the family may visit at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Gene R. Boydston

Gene R. Boydston, a 67-year-old Gurnee resident, passed away at Lake Forest Hospital on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2013.  He was born in Chicago on November 12, 1945.  He graduated from Round Lake High School.  Gene served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Sergeant.  He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Robin K. {nee Roane} Boydston, whom he wed on May 23, 1970 in Park Ridge, IL; the cherished father of Kimberly (Martin) Mayer and Brenda (Jason) Stoneham; the doting grandfather or “Papa” of Kirstyn, Dylan, & Allisyn Mayer, and Emily, Kylie, Bryce, Ashlyn, & Tyler Stoneham.  His son Craig Joseph Boydston preceded him in death.  Friends of the family may join them for memorial visitation at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Jimmy “James” R. Romich

Jimmy “James” R. Romich, a 70-year-old Round Lake Heights resident, passed away at home late Friday night, April 26, 2013.  He was born in Boise, ID on May 26, 1942 to the now late Mike and Pauline {nee Paddock} Romich.  Jim served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.  He was a former advisor for the Round Lake Beach Police Cadets, a long-time volunteer/caretaker for Spay and Stay in Grayslake, and one of the original members of the Round Lake Area Mobile Eye.  He is survived by Madelene, his wife of 34 years, whom he wed on July 29, 1978 in Grayslake; his children Jaime Holub, Bud (Bonnie) Kowalski, Wayne (Andrea) Kowalski, Julie Paddock, Trisha Peck, and Julianna Romich; his grandchildren Steven, Alex, Katie, Austin, Allison, Guiliano, and David; one great-grandchild; his siblings Donalee, Johnnie, and Sandy; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  His brother Mike preceded him in death.  Friends of the family may visit at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Esther Johanna Johnson Lemar, age 98, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Round Lake Beach.  She was born on September 2, 1914 in Virgil, IL to Frederick and Lily Johnson.  Esther is survived by her children Ruth Brauck, Les Lemar Jr., Lee Lemar, and Larry Lemar, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lester J. Erich G. Schuebel

Erich G. Schuebel, a 79-year-old Grayslake resident, born in Stammbach, Germany and formerly of Chicago, passed away at home Sunday morning, Apr. 21, 2013.  Erich retired in 1995 from W.D. William V. Samson Sr.

William Vaskin Samson Sr., 86, of Grayslake, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion. He was born July 5, 1926 in East Moline, IL to George and Anna (nee: Yevnokian) Samson. William was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II. He was a member of the St. George Armenian Church in Waukegan where he volunteered his time to help build additions, maintained the grounds, donated a sign for the church, and helped during the Mother’s Day dinners. William was a member of the Waukegan American Legion and was founder and owner of Nu Glo Sign Company in Grayslake. William is survived by his children Dr. Diana Lynn (Dr. Richard) Cohen, William Vaskin Samson Jr., and John George (Tina) Samson, his grandchildren of Bridget (Jonathan) Olejniczak and Victoria Samson. Diane Cunningham

Diane I. Cunningham, a 70-year-old Ingleside resident, formerly of Round Lake Beach, passed away Thursday evening, Apr. 11, 2013 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.  She was born in Chicago on Oct. 14, 1942 to the now late Raymond and Mary {nee Woodrich} Keilman.  Diane was the beloved wife of 51 years to William Cunningham; the loving mother of William (Kay) Cunningham Jr., Timothy Cunningham, Debra Clark, and Lorraine (Shane) Cagle; the doting grandmother of Crystal (Sam) Cunningham, Samantha (Mike) Clark, Stephanie (Adam) Clark, and Jakob Cagle; and the dear sister of Michael (Carolyn) Keilman.  Her brother Jim Keilman preceded her in death.  Friends of the family may join them on Saturday, Apr. 20, 2013 for a memorial visitation at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Helen Powroznik

Helen M. Powroznik (nee: Yllo), a resident of Wildwood, passed away Tuesday April 9, 2013, at the age of 68, from complications of a stroke she had in late February. She was born October 9, 1944 in Myllykoske, Finland to Sirkku (nee: Kyllikki) and Arvo Yllo. They came to the United States in 1948 and settled in the Chicago Andersonville Area. Helen married her first husband Frank Friesl in 1963 and lived in the same area until moving to McHenry in 1972, where they raised their children. Helen started driving a school bus in 1975 and continued for 30 years. Helen and Frank moved the family to Florida in 1985, where she continued driving a school bus for Pasco County. Frank passed away in December of 1990 and Helen moved back to McHenry in 1992. Helen was a life member of the American Legion Auxillary #703 in Fox Lake. Helen is survived by her husband Ray Powroznik, whom she wed on December 3, 1994, her children, Tim (Gina) Friesl, and Vicki (Jim) Miller, her stepson Frank (Debbie) Friesl of Justin, TX, her grandchildren Erica, Gillian, TJ and Krysta Friesl of Kirtland, OH and Lexis Miller of McHenry, her stepgrandchildren Matthew Friesl and Jennifer (Josh) Rice of Texas, and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband Frank Friesl. Tiffany Timmerhoff

Tiffany M. Timmerhoff, 30, of Gages Lake passed away April 6, 2013 in Park Ridge at the Rainbow Hospice Ark. She lost her battle fighting cancer for over four years. She was born September 15, 1982 in McHenry, IL and lived in Lake County her whole life. Tiffany attended Woodland and graduated from Warren High School. Following high school she attended the College of Lake County for one year. Her latest job before her illness was at Kohl’s in Gurnee. Tiffany is survived by her daughters, whom she thought the world of and did everything with them and for them, Hannah Timmerhoff ad Ava Lopez, her parents Ronald and Sandra, her brother Eric, her niece Kayla, her fiancé Pedro Lopez, her aunts and uncles Jeanine and John Martin and Roberta and Gerry Misener, and many cousins and friends. Elisabeth Bruns, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Friday April 5, 2013 at the age of 78. She was born February 7, 1935 in Ulm, Germany to Lorenz and Anna Oesterle. Terry Shields Jr.

Terry L. Shields Jr. passed away suddenly at his home on Mar. 28, 2013.  He is survived by two sons Cody, age 13, and Anthony Shields, age 9; his father Terry L. Shields Sr., mother Theresa Yates; adoptive parents Jeff and Maria Jones; his grandmother Marie Sugaski; three sisters April Felver, Amanda Foster, and Jami (Edward) Webber; five nephews and two nieces; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Joseph Shields and Harry Sugaski, his grandmother Josephine Quist, his sister Mysti Maggard, and his Uncle John and Aunt Doreen Quist.  Terry was loved by many and will be missed by all.  A memorial service will take place at Gages Lake, Sat. Karen Ann Russell

Karen Ann (Selcke) Russell, a resident of Lindenhurst, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the age of 46. Karen was born September 15, 1966 in Evanston, IL to Larry Selcke and Marilyn (Lindstrom) Selcke Krystyniak. Karen was a fifth grade teacher at District #41, Martin Elementary School, a position she loved. Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 22 years, Rick, her children, Brittany Ann and Anthony Owen; her brothers, Paul (Nancy) Selcke and Larry (Debbie) Selcke, both of Minnasota, step-sister Ladonna (Krystyniak) (Bill) Teeters and step-brother Guy Krystyniak, both of NV. Also surviving are her Lindstrom uncles, Jack of Winnetka, Mike (Linda) of Harvard, and Jim (Sallie), Chris (Terry), and Greg (Ruth), all of WI; her numerous cousins and her many loving nieces and nephews, who enjoyed and are grateful for, her meaningful presence. Joseph Steve Zielinski, age 86, passed away on Mar. 24, 2013.
