James L. Villiard

James L. Villiard, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Tuesday May 21, 2013, at the age of 84. He was born October 23, 1928 in Ladysmith, WI to George and Esther Villiard. James was a veteran of the US Army and he was employed with Copper Cartage for 18 years before retiring from Keller Trucking after working for them for 18 years. James is survived by his children Alayne Bartlett, Myron (Donna) Bartlett, and Cheryl (Greg) Ehlers, his grandchildren Daniel (Lorinda) Bartlett and Jared (Karla) Bartlett, his siblings Lilah Hall, Mary Brandt, Margie Gapinski, Doris Ostic, and Roger Villiard, and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his wife Lucille and his siblings Jerome Villiard, Gene Villiard, Alma Mae Swan, Lynn Villiard, Duane Villard, and Lucille Marie. Stanley Q. “Bud” Maloney

Stanley Quentin “Bud” Maloney, a 91-year-old Grayslake resident, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, May 26, 2013 after receiving wonderful care at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.  Bud was born in Louisville, KY to the now late Samuel and Vivian {nee Reed} Maloney.  He served his country proudly as a U.S. Marine for four years in the Pacific Theater during WWII, ultimately attaining the rank of Sergeant.  Bud was the beloved husband of 69 years to Norma {nee Templeton} Maloney; the loving father of Cindy (the late Beverly) Waterstradt; dearest grandfather of Heidi Lynn (Brock) Gohlinghorst; the fond great-grandfather of Sydney Ann and Jessica Jane Gohlinghorst; doting master of his furry pal “Bear”.  His son Michael Reed Maloney preceded him in death.  Friends of the family may join them for memorial visitation at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 31 Park Avenue, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Thu. Robert E. Schloneger

Robert E. Schloneger, a 64-year-old lifelong resident of Wildwood, passed away at home Friday evening, May 24, 2013.  He was born in Chicago to the now late Jesse and Lillian {nee Kardosh} Schloneger.  Robert worked for Fabrication Technology in Libertyville for nearly 20 years, and loved to frequent the Sci-Fi Café in Burlington, WI.  He was the dear brother of Susan (John) Skorniak; the loving uncle of Kim (Eric Dawson) Freely; and doting great-uncle of Emma; and the fond nephew, cousin, and friend of many.  All services will be held privately.  Arrangements were entrusted to STRANG FUNERAL CHAPL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Georgia Norlin

Georgia Bettes Norlin, Lake Barrington resident, formerly of Deerfield, (Northwestern Class of ’47) the beloved star of stage, radio, television, her family, and an entire audience of fabulous friends, passed away with her children Eric and Nancy at her side on Wed. May 8, 2013 at the exquisite age of 89 years and 11 days. She was preceded in death by her accompanist and husband Lloyd B. Norlin, her sisters, and parents. A toast to her past and a toast to her future was an on-going production by her family including Eric and daughter-in-“love” Dee; Nancy and son-in-“love” Kurt, along with her “grands” Kimberly, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Ben, Kyle, and Timothy. A memorial service is being planned for a yet-to-be-determined date in the near future. In a typically unselfish gesture, Georgia donated her earthly remains (as did husband Lloyd) to the Anatomical Gift Society, immediately upon her death. She has finally succumbed to technology, posthumously, with the creation of the “Georgia B. Geraldine “Dean” Haddon, a resident of Bristol, WI and formerly of Wildwood, IL, passed away Tuesday May 7, 2013 at the age of 87. Eugene L. “Les” Werhniak

Eugene L. “Les” Werhniak, age 85, of Gages Lake, passed away at home on Sun. May 5, 2013.  He was born in Highland Park on April 24, 1928 to the now late Anton and Emma Werhniak.  Les served his country proudly as a U.S. Marine.  He was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. in Lake Villa, a retiree from Abbott Labs, and loved to ride his Harley.  Les is survived by his Wife Georgie, whom he wed on April 24, 1981 in Gages Lake; his children Kris (Leon) Somers of Nekoosa, WI, Raymond (Jody) Njust of Wildwood, and Robert (Carri) Njust of Gwinn, MI; his nephew Jeff Vesecky of Montello, WI; seven grandchildren whom he loved to spend time with: Kristin, Kimberly, Katelyn, Nicole, Anthony, Karly, and Cheyanne; three great-grandchildren Kendall, Grayson, and Drew.   His sister Elyse, brother-in-law Rudy Vesecky, and sister-in-law Emma Vesecky preceded him in death.  Friends of the family may visit at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Walter A. Kazakeich, a resident of Grayslake and formerly of Glenview, passed away Sunday May 5, 2013 at the age of 73. He was born June 9, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Walter and Harriet Kazakeich. Amanda S. Pompeo

Amanda S. Gene R. Boydston

Gene R. Jimmy “James” R. Romich

Jimmy “James” R. Romich, a 70-year-old Round Lake Heights resident, passed away at home late Friday night, April 26, 2013.  He was born in Boise, ID on May 26, 1942 to the now late Mike and Pauline {nee Paddock} Romich.  Jim served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.  He was a former advisor for the Round Lake Beach Police Cadets, a long-time volunteer/caretaker for Spay and Stay in Grayslake, and one of the original members of the Round Lake Area Mobile Eye.  He is survived by Madelene, his wife of 34 years, whom he wed on July 29, 1978 in Grayslake; his children Jaime Holub, Bud (Bonnie) Kowalski, Wayne (Andrea) Kowalski, Julie Paddock, Trisha Peck, and Julianna Romich; his grandchildren Steven, Alex, Katie, Austin, Allison, Guiliano, and David; one great-grandchild; his siblings Donalee, Johnnie, and Sandy; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  His brother Mike preceded him in death.  Friends of the family may visit at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Erich G. Schuebel, a 79-year-old Grayslake resident, born in Stammbach, Germany and formerly of Chicago, passed away at home Sunday morning, Apr. 21, 2013.  Erich retired in 1995 from W.D. William V. Samson Sr.

William Vaskin Samson Sr., 86, of Grayslake, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion. He was born July 5, 1926 in East Moline, IL to George and Anna (nee: Yevnokian) Samson. William was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II. He was a member of the St. George Armenian Church in Waukegan where he volunteered his time to help build additions, maintained the grounds, donated a sign for the church, and helped during the Mother’s Day dinners. William was a member of the Waukegan American Legion and was founder and owner of Nu Glo Sign Company in Grayslake. William is survived by his children Dr. Diana Lynn (Dr. Richard) Cohen, William Vaskin Samson Jr., and John George (Tina) Samson, his grandchildren of Bridget (Jonathan) Olejniczak and Victoria Samson. Diane I. Helen Powroznik

Helen M. Powroznik (nee: Yllo), a resident of Wildwood, passed away Tuesday April 9, 2013, at the age of 68, from complications of a stroke she had in late February. She was born October 9, 1944 in Myllykoske, Finland to Sirkku (nee: Kyllikki) and Arvo Yllo. They came to the United States in 1948 and settled in the Chicago Andersonville Area. Helen married her first husband Frank Friesl in 1963 and lived in the same area until moving to McHenry in 1972, where they raised their children. Helen started driving a school bus in 1975 and continued for 30 years. Helen and Frank moved the family to Florida in 1985, where she continued driving a school bus for Pasco County. Frank passed away in December of 1990 and Helen moved back to McHenry in 1992. Helen was a life member of the American Legion Auxillary #703 in Fox Lake. Helen is survived by her husband Ray Powroznik, whom she wed on December 3, 1994, her children, Tim (Gina) Friesl, and Vicki (Jim) Miller, her stepson Frank (Debbie) Friesl of Justin, TX, her grandchildren Erica, Gillian, TJ and Krysta Friesl of Kirtland, OH and Lexis Miller of McHenry, her stepgrandchildren Matthew Friesl and Jennifer (Josh) Rice of Texas, and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband Frank Friesl. Tiffany Timmerhoff

Tiffany M. Timmerhoff, 30, of Gages Lake passed away April 6, 2013 in Park Ridge at the Rainbow Hospice Ark. She lost her battle fighting cancer for over four years. She was born September 15, 1982 in McHenry, IL and lived in Lake County her whole life. Tiffany attended Woodland and graduated from Warren High School. Following high school she attended the College of Lake County for one year. Her latest job before her illness was at Kohl’s in Gurnee. Tiffany is survived by her daughters, whom she thought the world of and did everything with them and for them, Hannah Timmerhoff ad Ava Lopez, her parents Ronald and Sandra, her brother Eric, her niece Kayla, her fiancé Pedro Lopez, her aunts and uncles Jeanine and John Martin and Roberta and Gerry Misener, and many cousins and friends. Elisabeth Bruns, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Friday April 5, 2013 at the age of 78. She was born February 7, 1935 in Ulm, Germany to Lorenz and Anna Oesterle.
