Dorothy E. Hansen (nee: Thompsen) passed away on July 24, 2013, after a brief illness, she was 90. She was born in Grayslake, IL on November 6, 1922, to Peter H. and Anna M. Thompsen. She married John “Jack” E. Hansen on June 27, 1942, at St. Andrew’s Church in Grayslake and they were married for 54 years until his death in 1996. In 1989, she retired as Office Manager for the American Red Cross at Great Lakes Naval Station after 37 years of service. She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn D. Hansen of Grayslake, her sister Betty M. (the late Col. William J.) Ankley of Springfield, VA and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister Alma M. (the late Edwin O.) Dale Elwood Worden
Dale E. Worden, a resident of Antioch, passed away Saturday July 20, 2013 at the age of 81. He was born November 27, 1932 in Racine, WI to Claude and Ruth (nee: Corder) Worden. Dale was a Marine Corp veteran having served during the Korean War. After the war Dale became interested in cooking and had retired after having worked as a chef for over 50 years. He was also a local businessman owning several restaurants: Dale & Val’s Ahoy Mates Bar and Restaurant, the Sequoit Harbor Restaurant, and a campground with a restaurant, all on the Chain of Lakes in the Antioch area, and continued later as the chef at Neutrauter’s Restaurant. Robert “Jim” Stallcup, a resident of Gages Lake, passed away Wednesday July 17, 2013 at his home, at the age of 70. He was born September 22, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN to Florence and Chandler Stallcup. Jim was a former employee of Bell Fuels in Chicago. Dr. Dulce Milanes
The good Dr. Dulce Milanes, an 88-year-old Lake Forest resident, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 16, 2013 at Lake Forest Hospital. Dr. Milanes was born in Havana, Cuba on June 19, 1925 to the now late Eladio and Amalia {nee Garcia} Milanes. Dr. Milanes was an OB/GYN, maintaining a well known office on Center Street in Grayslake, delivering nearly 17,000 babies since 1954 at area hospitals such as Condell, St. Therese (now Vista East), and Victory (now Vista West). She actually holds the United States record, surpassing 15,800 deliveries in 2002. Dr. Milanes loved her chosen profession and the decades of patients, deriving true joy out of helping people for so many years. She was the loving mother of Sergio Fuentes, Dulce (Robert) Brandt, and Matthew (Catherine) Fuentes; the adoring grandmother of Michael Brandt, Dulce Fuentes, and Jennifer Fuentes; the dear sister of Eladia A. Byron K. Pscherer, a lifelong resident of Round Lake, passed away Saturday July 13, 2013, at the age of 54. He was born June 29, 1959 in Chicago, IL to Alfred and Forrestene Pscherer. Conrad Yach, a 65-year-old Wildwood resident, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sun. June 30, 2013. He was born in Steven’s Point, WI on June 15, 1948 to the now late Steve and Luella {nee Kropidlowski} Yach. Conrad graduated from Warren Township High School in Gurnee, and worked for Serfilco for nearly 30 years. He enjoyed cooking and fishing, yard work and home improvement, but he especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. George C. Schechner
George C. Schechner, Age 92, beloved husband of Margaret J. Schechner nee Trillschoen, who preceded him in death in 2004, longtime residents of Grayslake and parishioners at United Protestant Church of Grayslake, died on June 28, 2013 at Manor Care of Libertyville after a long fight with COPD. Born in Chicago, grew up on the near west side with brother Robert (who died in 1953), served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, served in the Army Signal Corps during WWII in Italy, served the City of Chicago as a firefighter for 30 years before retiring as a Battalion Chief in 1984. Many remember his service to Chicago as a first responder to the fire at Our Lady of the Angels, and his pride for his service in 1980 when other firefighters left to strike and he remained with other officers to conduct critical fire and rescue operations under police protection for 23 days.
After marrying in 1956 George and Margaret enjoyed 47 years of marriage that included European vacations to visit Margaret’s many relatives , long road trips in powerful cars before radar detection, and dining at all the German restaurants they could find with many friends and family members. Survived by maternal cousins, Thelma Gontesky of California and Judy Meyers of New York. Internment private. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. George J. Klindera Jr., a resident of Grayslake, passed away Thursday June 27, 2013, at the age of 84. He was born June 18, 1929 in Waukegan, IL, to George J. Sr. and Antoinette Klindera. George had retired from Volkswagen after having worked for over 20 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force having served during the Korean War. Blanca M. Gonzalez, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Thursday June 20, 2013 at the age of 72. She was born January 31, 1941 in Mexico to Juan and Diamantina Morales. Paul “Duffy” Schlicht, a resident of Gages Lake, passed away at Advocate Condell Medical Center on Tuesday June 4, 2013, at the age of 58. He was born December 29, 1954 in Libertyville, IL at Advocate Condell Medical Center. Duffy attended St. Gilberts Grade school, Carmel High School, and the College of Lake County. He most recently worked for his lifelong friend Matt Wantola. Duffy is survived by his son Dylan A. Michele A. Trudeau
Michele A. Trudeau {nee Wolf}, a 60-year-old Grayslake resident, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 28, 2013. She was born in Waukegan on January 6, 1953. Michele grew up in Wildwood and graduated from Warren High School, class of 1971. She lived much of her adult life in Antioch.
Michele was brought up in the family’s establishment, Pierre’s Village Inn, where her passion for the restaurant business was born. She made a name for herself as Event Coordinator at The Tower Room, Food Service Manager at Antioch High School, and her life time working and personal relationship with John Steitz and Steitz’s Resort.
Michele was also a member and Treasurer of the UDLL Dart League, loved to cook, paint and read and always loved boating on the Chain of Lakes, a place that held many childhood memories for her. She will be lovingly remembered for her smile and twinkling eyes, her sense of humor and her overall kind-hearted spirit.
Michele is survived by her daughter, Rachel Wolf; her mother, Anna “Toots” Trudeau; her brothers Steve (Sharon) Trudeau and George (Ronnie) Trudeau; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew “Pierre” Trudeau.
