Eileen Dragovich

Eileen M. Dragovich, a resident of Gurnee, passed away March 25, 2014, at the age of 91. She was born March 1, 1923 in Rice Lake, WI to Margaret and Dr. John K. Erpelding. Eileen had worked for over 20 years at Marshall Fields. She loved to dance, enjoyed her martinis, and socializing with friends and family. Eileen was a loving mother of Michelle (Jeff) Rohrer-Lauer, beloved grandmother to Michael and David Rohrer, beloved step-grandmother to Blake Lauer, adoring sister to Anne Hach, and wonderful aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in her death by her parents, her siblings Donald, Helen,Claire, Sheila, and Frank, her nieces and nephews Patrica Kenaga, Robert Kenaga, and Richard Tessin, her sister-in-law Rita Erpelding, and her former husband Mike Dragovich. Kathryn Michelau

Kathryn “Kate” Michelau, a resident of Grayslake, passed away March 22, 2014 at Lexington Home in Lake Zurich at the age of 84. She was born February 22, 1930 in McHenry County to Ford and Mayme (nee: Frett) Jackson. Kate married Fred “Benny” Michelau on January 5, 1952 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. She helped manage Michelau’s Greenhouse and farm stand in Grayslake for many years. Kate enjoyed socializing with the customers. She was a big sports fan and attended many of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved to prepare homemade jam and give it to her friends with the request of “bring back the empty jars.” Kate is survived by her children Debby (Mark Mueller) Michelau of Montello, WI, John (Leslie) of Johnsburg, Diane (Fred) Bryant of Lake Zurich, Ben of Trevor, WI, and Bernadine Michelau of Algonquin, her grandchildren John, Scott, Bob, Hallie, Mike and Joey Michelau, Ricky and Danny Bryant, and Jeff and Jay Halvorsen, her great grandchildren Rohnan, Ryker, and Addison Michelau, and her brother Ed Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, her sisters Connie and Marie, and her brothers George, Joe, Art, and Jim. Aurelio N. de Guzman

de Guzman 2Aurelio Nayal de Guzman “ADEG”, 67, of Round Lake, IL entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, March 23, 2014. He was born in Cotabato City, Philippines. Aurelio attended Notre Dame University for his Bachelor of Arts in English, Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Aurelio continued his studies to receive a Master of Arts Degree in Economics. He was married to Alicia Saldua Barillo, on April 22, 1972, for 42 years. Aurelio was an accomplished man, most notable for his position as a Manager and Assistant Vice President of the Philippine National Bank. Aurelio was President of The Dipolog City Bankers Club, the President of the Rotary Club of Dipolog, the Governor’s Group Representative of the Rotary Club and the Director of the PNB Western Manager’s Association. Aurelio was survived by his wife Alice “Boss” de Guzman; his four children: Aileen, Avon Aurel, Alma Farrah and Althea Avice; his six grandchildren: Aubrey Pearl, Adam Kurt, Adrian Maurel, Arabella Elyse, Angelica Elle, Angelo Clyde and his two dogs: Hershey and Akira. Wayne C. Trapp

Wayne C. Trapp, 69, a resident of Antioch, IL passed away March 16, 2014 in Kenosha, WI. He was born February 2, 1945 in Chicago to Philip and Virginia (nee: Novakowski) Trapp. Wayne was a retired 20 year veteran of the Chicago Police in the 17th District of Albany Park. He loved to hunt duck and geese, he was an avid auction attendee, but most all loved to fish with his daughter Susanne. Wayne is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice, whom he wed on September 18, 1965 in Chicago, his children Wayne Trapp of Antioch and Susanne (Alex) Skowron of Wisconsin, his sister Kathleen of Lake in the Hills, and his dog Cody. He was preceded in death by his parents and his dog Luke. Patricia J. Yunjie Liu, 57, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Monday March 17, 2014. He was born May 12, 1956 in China to Junling Liu and Zhanqing Sun. Yunjie had graduated from the State of New York University in Binghamton with a Master degree in Computer Science. Thomas E. Pietrasz

Thomas E. Pietrasz, 47, of Grayslake and formerly of Libertyville, IL, passed away March 11, 2014. He was born August 22, 1966 in Chicago, IL. Tom was a dedicated, certified Tree Arborist at Trees R Us in Wauconda, IL. He was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed fishing, and boating. Mary Jane Lucas

Mary Jane Lucas (nee Lett) of Grayslake, IL passed away on February 28, 2014 at the age of 92. She was born on July 18, 1921 in Bertrand, MO to parents Thomas L. Lett and Minnie E. Golightly. Mary Jane Lucas’ legacy touched many communities throughout her life; she held senior leadership and center of influence positions in several organizations to include: President, Grayslake, IL Park Board; Lake County Forest Preserve District; business entrepreneur – Lucas Grocery and Grill; Keynote Speaker on WWII at community schools, Memorial and Veterans Day ceremonies; War Bond Promoter with Chicago radio stations; and celebrated as the first person from her home state area to enlist in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC/WAC). She was a strong advocate for the military and nation’s veterans, and a champion voice for Grayslake, Lake County, and many civic organizations. Mary Jane Lucas is survived by her children George J. Lucas II, Marilyn J. Lucas, Charles J. Lucas Jr., five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A visitation and memorial service will be held on Sunday afternoon, 16 March 2014 from 2 – 4:00 PM with a service commencing at 4:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Jeredene “Jerry” L. Bouma

Jeredene “Jerry” L. Bouma, age 72, of Wildwood passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014.  She was born in 1941 in Oak Park, IL to Theodore and LaVergne Anderson.  Jerry graduated from Warren High School in 1960. She enjoyed camping, ceramics, reading and spending time with her grandkids.  She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bill; her children, Jamie (Travis) Vanderpool, Daniel (Linda), Kelly (Kerri) and Tracy (Andre) Surdez; four grandsons and four granddaughters; and her siblings, Judy Bentley, Janice Beake, and Ted Anderson II. Genevieve A. Thomson

Genevieve A. Thomson, age 96, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Wealshire in Lincolnshire. She was born July 26, 1917 in Gurnee to George and Anna (nee Pitak) Magiera. Genevieve was a member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church in Grayslake and loved the joys of her life, her great-grandchildren and grandchildren. Genevieve is survived by her children, Patricia (William) Zielke of Rochester, NY, Margaret Koupal of Norwalk, OH, and Barry (Maureen) of Johnsburg; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Ed Magiera of Union Grove, WI, Irene Carey, Leo Magiera of Ocala, FL; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Julia Wojtarowicz

Julia (nee: Kasprzyk) Wojtarowicz, 97, a resident of Wildwood, passed away Thursday February 27, 2014. She was born August 5, 1916 in Chicago. She was married to the now deceased Stanley Wojtarowicz for 51 years. She is survived by her children Roger (Sharon Beatty) of Antioch, Julene( her deceased husband Robert) Mumenthaler of Wildwood, and Joyce Engel of Kenosha, WI, her 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and very close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and loving husband Stanley. Julia was the youngest of 7 girls. She had an adventurous spirit all of her life. She completed her nurses training at Norwegian-American Hospital in Chicago. She joined the Army prior to the start of World War II and served as a nurse at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. She earned the rank of Second Lieutenant. In 1952 Stanley and Julia moved their family from Chicago to Wildwood and she remained a resident of Wildwood for the rest of her life. She was a member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church in Grayslake for 62 years, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, St. Vincent De Paul Society, and Friendship Club.. Julia was a member of AARP through Warren Township, Warren Township Senior Center, Grayslake Library Lane Senior Center, Homemakers of Grayslake, and Grayslake Alley Cats bowling league. Julia worked as a nurse at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville from 1953 to 1961. Stanley and Julia enjoyed travel and after his retirement took many trips with Gem Tours as well as with family and friends. Mary A. Kiley

A celebration of the life of Mary A. Kiley (nee Jaggers), 87, a 19-year resident of Saddlebrook Farms, formerly of Wheeling, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Saddlebrook Farms Community Center, Route 60 and Peterson Roads, Grayslake. A reflection of her life will be given by her daughter, Sandra, and grand-daughter, Kathryn. Mrs. Kiley passed away comfortably on December 2, 2013, after a short illness. Interment will be private.  Mary loved spending her time playing canasta with her friends at Saddlebrook Farms. She belonged to the Saddlebrook Trotters, as well as the Quilting Club and St. Mary’s Senior Club.  Mary was the beloved wife of the late Raymond, loving and devoted mother to Sandra Harrsch (Clark Garlock), world’s best grandma, secret keeper, advice giver, and role model to granddaughter, Kathryn Harrsch, of Grayslake. Mary is survived by many friends and relatives both near and far. Patricia Morrison

Patricia Morrison, 75, of Round Lake Beach passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Paradise Park Memory Care Facility in Fox Lake, IL.  Pat was born November 30, 1938 in Chicago, IL.  She worked for 38 years for Illinois Bell having worked her way up to a managerial position.  She retired and moved to New Jersey where she became a rural mail carrier for 11 years.  She was also a member of the Phone Company Pioneers.  Pat was an animal lover and a lover of all Chicago sports teams.  She was athletic, outgoing, and loved to dance.  She leaves behind her sister, Anne Minkler of Round Lake Beach and her nieces and nephews, Vicki (Doug) Wisner of Marengo, David Ponte and Teresa Greslik of McHenry, Bonnie (Lonnie) Harris of Fox Lake, Sherman Minkler of Round Lake Beach, Susan (Dan) Zigmund of Round Lake Beach, and Patti (Jim) Gerhardt of Bartlett, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.  Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Angus and Margaret Morrison of Chicago and her sister Isabelle Ponte of Johnsburg.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  All arrangements were entrusted to STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Cherie L. Grubb, a resident of Burlington, Wisconsin, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the age of 64. She was born July 1, 1949 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, to Neil and Marie (Reed) Thompson. Cherie was the loving wife of Kenneth. Cherie is survived by her husband of 46 years Kenneth, her children Katina and Korey (Joyce) both of Wisconsin, her grandchildren Kayla, Colton and Kelsie also of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents. Cherie enjoyed cooking and loved to ride her motorcycle. She enjoyed her horse and dogs. Cherie most of all, loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family. She really loved a wide variety of music and loved walking with her posse.
