  5. Michael—you will be missed. You were always the “extra son” in our home. We enjoyed watching you grow and develop into a fine man. Many memories, notes and laughs were passed beginning with St. Gilbert and on and on.

  6. My deepest sympathies to Mike’s family and friends. He had that one of a kind personality that will never be forgotten. The looks he would make, the comments, the ribbing…. and his laugh! He had the BEST infectious laugh ever. We could talk for hours at a time reminiscing about old stories, Seinfeld episodes, or Will Ferrell scenes. We debated Packers vs. Bears drafts, games, coaches … or Sammy vs Dave as the front man of Van Halen!
One of my favorite memories was having lunch with Mike and my daughter. She was talking about her recent trip to swim with the dolphins. She told him “You got to touch them, they did tricks and pulled you through the water, you kissed them, and then when we were done we got to take them on the beach and barbecue and eat them”. The reaction and look on Mike’s face was priceless as he was mid-bite into his sandwich he looked up over his glasses, slowly removed the sandwich and swallowed his bite while wiping his face with the napkin. Playing along with her joke, he said “You are a horrible person!” and we all busted out laughing.

ps. Mike you win! Sammy was better! However, the Packers have dominated the Bears in the last 20 years so I win that one. RIP my friend!

  7. Correction. After sleeping on this I re-called the more accurate response to my daughter’s story. Imagine this the only way Mike could say this: “Wait a second (pause) let me get this straight (pause). So you are telling me you played with the dolphin, and then cooked it on the beach and proceeded to eat it? You (pause) you are a horrible person!!!

  8. You will be missed by many Mike Andre. Even though we haven’t been in touch in quite some time, you always had a special place in my heart. You made me laugh until I cried so many times, and I’ll never forget your nick name for Cleo as “MacNCheese”. Your humor and kindness was second to none. I know you are at peace now. I’ll see you again someday on the other side. Hugs to your wonderful family.

  9. Dre was a great college buddy and friend. He was another uncle to my boys, Logan and Mason. To this day they still refer to him as uncle Dre. You will be missed Dre. May you rest in peace buddy. Jenny it was great seeing you on Saturday. You and your family have our thoughts and prayers.

  10. Mike will indeed be sorely missed. He was a long time colleague but above all a true friend who was always there for me. Even in the most tense situations Mike could put everyone at ease with a timely joke or comment. He never took himself too seriously and was someone you couldn’t help but like, trust and want to be around. I will miss his easy laugh, his generosity and his genuinely caring nature – he left us much too soon!

  11. I am devastated by this news. He was truly a fun loving and great person and a wonderful young man. I worked alongside Mike at Baxter SP and keep in touch over the years even though we lived so far apart. He had stayed at my home when my kids were little and just saw him at Pittcon in New Orleans a couple years ago. We had just congratulated each other on the Cubs World Series Victory and I was looking forward to seeing him again. My heart is broken.
