Merry was a young 86 years of age and had a zest for life. She loved to spend time with her children,
grandchildren and great grandchild. She loved our annual vacations to either Disneyland, CA, San Diego,
Chicago, or Walt Disney World, FL. She loved to read you could always catch her sitting somewhere
reading a book or newspaper (like reading the USA Today newspaper while at Disneyland, CA). She loved
to sew, her most recent sewing craft that she loved to do was quilting in which she had created quilts for
her grandchildren, family friends, and great grandchild and her great grandchild’s American Girl Dolls. She
also spent countless hours on the golf course coaching her husband in blind golf.
Prior to moving to Phoenix, Merry taught US history at both East and West High School and at Thomas
Jefferson Jr High in Waukegan, IL for 16 years. After relocating to Phoenix Merry worked at AZ Veterans,
middle school history at St. Agnes Catholic School, and retired in 2007 after working 16+ years as a Probate
Court Investigator for Maricopa County.

I had Mrs. Nessinger for history at Waukegan East High School (graduated in 1979)! . She was a tough, no-nonsense teacher, who really knew her stuff! She was amazing! While she took no guff from anyone, she made leaning history fun, had a great sense of humor, and was definitely, one of my favorite teachers of high school! To the Nessinger family, So very sorry for your loss! She was truly one of a kind! You’re family is in my thoughts and prayers! God Bless!
