Obituary's Biography:

Melinda F. Alcantara, a resident of Gurnee, IL passed away Sunday June 9, 2013 at the age of 50. She was born May 27, 1963 to Miguela Flores. Melinda was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Gurnee. Melinda was actively involved in the music ministry at St. Anastasia, and a fundamental driving force in establishing the annual Simbung Gabi tradition celebrated by Filipinos of Lake County during the Christmas season. She last worked for Sunrise Assisted Living in Gurnee. Melinda is survived by her husband of 30 years, Rodrigo Alcantara; her mother Miguela Flores; her children Minnie Rose Alcantara, Charlene Alcantara, Christian Alcantara; her granddaughter Mikaelyn Joy Domingo; and many cousins. Friends of the family may visit Friday June 21, 2013 from 4:00pm until 8:00 pm at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. The visitation will continue on Saturday June 22, 2013 from 9:00am until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00am at St. Paul the Apostle Church 6401 Gages Lake Rd. Gurnee, IL.
