Obituary's Biography:

Katherine Bystricky, 79, of Gurnee, IL, was born to eternal life on August 15, 2020 at her home surrounded by family.  She was born on June 28, 1941 in Poland to Józef and Rozalia (nee Matyasik) Dawiec and immigrated to the United States when she was 21 years old. She married Cyril Bystricky, and traveled the world with him, in service of our country, until his retirement from the United States Army.  They settled in Highwood, IL where she worked tirelessly managing their home, and helping to raise and to provide for their two daughters.  Her life was characterized by her dedication to her family and to her faith.  Her warm, inviting smile lit up a room and she will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Katherine is survived by her children Katherine (Daniel) Clancy and RoseMary (Ross) Adams, her grandchildren Bryan Clancy, John Clancy, Meredith Clancy, Katherine Adams, and Jack Adams, and her sister Anna Weglarz of Poland.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cyril M. Bystricky, her siblings: Jan, Maria, Wladyslaw, Józef, Stefania, Apolonia, and her cousin John Jeziorski. A visitation and funeral Mass are scheduled for August 20, 2020 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with the Mass commencing at 11am at St. Gilbert Catholic Church 301 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will be privately held at Fort Sheridan Cemetery in Highwood, IL. The funeral Mass will be live streamed through St. Gilbert’s Facebook page at https://m.facebook.com/StGilbertChurch/.  All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E.   3. Momma Bystricky you were my second mom, spending time with me during holidays when my mother could. You were a joy and always had a smile for me and a hug . Momma Bystricky you will be missed. Thank you for all the fond memories. ❤️

  5. Aunt Kathy was a wonderful, caring and sweet woman. I consider myself very lucky to have her in my life for 51 years. My father, mother and sisters all adored her. I have so many fond memories of growing up with the Bystricky Family. She had a beautiful smile and laugh and I will always treasure every moment spent with her. May she rest in peace knowing that she touched the hearts of so many around her.
