He especially enjoyed representing the Lions Club by driving his convertible in numerous Grayslake parades. Karl was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and also enjoyed researching, admiring and buying cars. He made many close friends through frequent poker games earning the nickname “Dumb Luck”. He loved all types of music, and his favorite activity was attending Summerfest, a tradition he enjoyed for over 50 years. Karl was known far and wide for his jokes, and he loved to make people happy. He was a loyal and generous friend. He never turned down a boat ride and thought cruises were a great way to vacation. Karl was partial to a good bourbon Old Fashioned and he was energized by socializing and meeting people. Most of all, he loved Marcie, his “Big Guy” and his fun-loving extended family.
Karl is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marcie Molek, his son Michael (Carie) Molek, his sister Helene (Rich) Anderson, and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
