Joe made 7 initial invasions bringing the Marines and heavy artillery to the islands of the South Pacific serving on a landing ship tank; LST 585 Beloved husband of Frances nee: Mirro; Devoted father of James (Vickie nee: Herrmann) Davis, IL-Summerset, Theresa “Terri” (Richard Toole) DeFranco of Cincinnati, OH and the late Ralph “Skip” DeFranco of Plainfield, IL; Loving Grandpa of Elizabeth Toole, Rebecca Toole, Diana De Bartoto, Louis De Bartoto; Adored Great Grandfather of many; Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Friday, 9:30 a.m. from Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030. Mass 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
