Janet P. Plutz
Obituary's Biography:
Janet P. Plutz (Prawl), of Grayslake, passed away January 2, 2019 at the age of 85. She was born in Lincoln, NE on August 26, 1933 to John and Blanche (Phillips) Prawl, but spent most of her youth in California where she met her future husband of 60 years, John, in San Francisco in 1952. Jan was a lifelong avid reader and anglophile often spending hours at the library browsing. She enjoyed shopping (especially looking for those good bargains), and playing games with family and friends. Even as they got older the grandchildren would always insist on playing Old Maid with grandma when they came to visit. Her regular dominos games with neighborhood friends was a source of enjoyment up to the very end of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Steve. She is survived by her children, John Patrick (Mary) of West Allis, WI, Matthew of Champaign, IL, Lorraine (Craig) Weidner of Trevor, WI, and Joseph (Sonelius Kendrick-Smith) of New York, NY; grandchildren, John Michael (Amber) of West Allis, WI, Kimberly (Mike) Shacklee of Kingston, IL, Jaclyn of Kingston, IL, Abigayle and Kayla of Naperville, IL, Casey and Kyle Weidner of Trevor, WI, Brianna (Peter) Jackson of New Orleans, LA; great-grandchildren John Charles and Ashlynn; daughter-in-law, Karen, of Rockford, IL; and sister, Roxanne Widfeldt of Roseville, CA; In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.com). Thanks to all of her health care professionals especially the dialysis team at Fresenius Medical Care, Round Lake. Without their skill and expertise we would have lost her much sooner. Finally, a huge thank you to the nursing staff at Northshore Hospital Highland Park for their compassionate care during her final days. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 22333 W Erhart Road, Mundelein, Il 60060.
