Freeda V. Starovich

Freeda V. Starovich, age 87, of Leesburg, FL passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born in Waukegan on August 21, 1926 to Alex and Hilda (nee Kahara) Makinen. Freeda loved to bowl and golf and liked to make dolls and doll clothing. She also enjoyed crafts of all sorts. She was a member of the Red Hat Purple Dress Society and the Hawthorn Woods Stock Club. She is survived by her children, Linda (Brad) Petersen of Gurnee, Susan (Roman) Keating of Gurnee, Pamela (the late Joseph) Atkinson of Grayslake, and Michael (Susan) Starovich of Libertyville; nine grandchildren, Jenny Sweeney, Peter Ryback, Josh (Lindsay) Atkinson, Carissa (Mark) Lund, Eric (Kendra) Atkinson, Willie Petersen, Lee Starovich, Roman Keating and Megan Starovich; seven great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Elizabeth O’Reilly; and her four-legged companion, Iris. Freeda was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) and her parents. Friends of the family may visit on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.
