Obituary's Biography:
Donald Peter Stoneberg, age 83, a resident of Lake Geneva and formally of Grayslake, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. He was born on November 9, 1935 in Chetek, WI to Arthur and Fern Stoneberg. Don, known to many as Stoney and Uncle Stoney was a man of integrity and character with a great sense of humor. Don served in the Army Honorably from 1960 to 1961. He was a teamster for many years working for Skokie Valley and Curran Contracting. Don was also a licensed Realtor. His favorite job was taking care of his Beautiful Wife Sandy, his Children, Grand Children, Great Grand Children and his many Nieces and Nephews. Don also cherished his many friends from his Grayslake Neighborhood, his fellow co workers and his Florida Crystal Lake Village friends. Don was known to help anyone and loved to talk to anyone. Don’s love for farming and Allis Chalmers Tractors took him on many adventures. He participated and loved to go to tractor shows. Don loved to use his tractor to help family and friends with projects. Don is and was a great example on how to navigate and love life. Donald is survived by his wife, Sandra, of 58 years who he married on October 14, 1961 in Waukegan. He is further survived by his daughter, Julie (David) Oatt of Bristol, Wis; his grandchildren, Kristy (Matt Mackay) Hanna, Katie (Erik) Malmstadt, Tyler Hanna, David Oatt, Jr, Grant Stoneberg, and Brock Ellis; his great grandchildren, Jayden, Hunter, Cayden, and Ophelia. He is preceded in death by his son, Eric Stoneberg; 2 sisters, Jeanne Call and Doris Leable; brother, Richard Stoneberg and his parents.
A memorial visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a time of sharing memories at 7:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association (http://www.alsa.org/) in the name of Eric Stoneberg.
