Conchita P. Somera, 95, a resident of Gurnee, IL, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at her home. She was born December 20, 1925 in Aibonito, PR to Jose and Esther Plata. Conchita came to the United States from Puerto Rico in 1945. She enjoyed reading, walking, music, and most of all being a Grandma. Conchita is survived by her children Orlando (Jane) Somera, Rosalia Somera, Odelia Socha, Raymund (Wendy) Somera, her grandchildren Paul (Collette) White, Sean (Joy) Dotson, Carlos Martinez III, and Alex Somera, her great-grandchild Hannah White, her siblings Pilar Plata, Felix Plata, and Nilda Sierra, numerous nieces and nephews and a special thanks to her caregiver Vanessa Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Armand Somera, and her 4 brothers and sisters. A visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Monday, February 15, 2021 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm with the funeral service commencing during this hour at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL. The interment will follow the service at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
