Carlton “Red” Buerger
Obituary's Biography:
Carlton “Red” Buerger, 94, longtime resident of Winnetka. Preceded in death by his loving wife Henrietta “Hattie” of 65 years. Loving father of Michele, Katherine, Stephen, Tom, Mary, and Robert. 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Carlton graduated from U. of Wisconsin Oshkosh, and earned his Masters in Education from Northwestern. He was a Captain in the US Marine Air Corps (1942-1946) as a fighter pilot with two Distinguished Flying Cross awards for missions on Okinawa. Wisconsin state singles tennis champion in 1946. Twenty Eight years of service at New Trier Township High School, thirty five years as a teaching tennis professional throughout the Chicago area, and a lifetime passion for working with young people. “Red” will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Funeral services will begin at 11:30am on Saturday, January 28th at the old church building at St. Mary of the Annunciation 22333 W. Erhart Rd. Mundelein, IL 60060.
