Obituary's Biography:
Bonnie L. Kowalski, 46, a resident of Round Lake Heights, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2016 after her courageous fight. She was born July 24, 1970 in Colorado Springs, CO to John and Kyung Sook Dersam (nee Chang).
Bonnie loved to cook and she also loved Disney and the Minions. She shared a love for the New York Yankees, NASCAR and traveling with her husband, Bud, of 27 years, and her family. She married her husband, Bud, on July 29, 1989 in the gazebo of their Grandpa Bud and Grandma Ruth Podhola’s home in Round Lake Heights.
She was a dedicated employee of Allstate for 28 years and had many friends that she loved.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Bud; son, Steven Mitchell of Round Lake Heights; her father, John J. Dersam of Orlando, Florida; “Mom” Boots Romich of Round Lake Heights; siblings, Brenda (Deacon Marcelino) Hernandez of Waukegan, Florea (Raj) Thind of Orlando, Florida; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother; her grandparents; and her father-in-law, Jim Romich.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Barbara Drevlow for her loving care and compassion. We would also like to thank all of the Doctors, Nurses, PCTs and Staff from the North Shore Hospital Groups of Highland Park, Evanston, and Glenbrook who helped with her care. Bonnie loved the sunshine and asked that you enjoy the sunshine and think of her.
There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Round Lake, IL followed by interment at Avon Centre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bonnie’s name may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of her charitable and giving spirit. It is still very hard to believe you departed this earth and called home to Our Lord and Savior.
I know you are no longer suffering or in pain. I am truly blessed knowing you are home.
We have known each other a long time and have been family forever.
May God comfort Bud, Steven, Mr. Dersam, Brenda/Marcelino, Florea/Raj family and friends.
You will be truly missed, but alwats remembered for your humbleness, unconditional love, your Zeal for life and especially your laughter that brightened up everyone’s days.

Bonnie was a beautiful person inside and out. I consider my self blessed and lucky to have known her. I will miss her.
