Anita L. Simeone
Obituary's Biography:
Anita Lillian Simeone, age 88, a resident of Athens, IL, passed away on September 2, 2022 at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, IL. She was born on February 21, 1934 to Henry and Grace Vivolo. Anita was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She was Italian through and through, an avid baker and amazing cook. Well-known for her cake decorating skills, she even made her daughter’s and son’s wedding cakes. She was an active member of Holy Family Church in Athens and had many dear friends there. But mainly, she was a devoted mom to her six children as well as her six grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She will be forever and deeply missed.
Anita is survived by her children, Thomas (Terry) Simeone of Plainfield, IL, Andrea (Ann) Simeone of Athens, IL, Carla (Kim) Simeone of Minneapolis, MN, Doug Simeone of Normal, IL, Claudia (John) Tiwet of Waukegan, IL, and Todd (Tammy) Simeone of Normal, IL; her grandchildren, Ryan (Colleen) Simeone of Plainfield, IL, Kira (Michael) Healey of Bartonville, IL, Rebecca (Andy) Tiwet of Chicago, IL, Michael Simeone of Bloomington, IL, Mark Simeone of Normal, IL, Andrew Tiwet of Chicago, IL, Taylor Simeone of Normal, IL, Natalie Simeone of Normal, IL and Parker Simeone of Normal, IL; and her eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Grace; her brother, Henry Vivolo; and sister-in-law, Joanne Vivolo.
A visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 10:00am. Entombment will follow the Mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 8616 W. State Road, Winnebago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 W.
