Obituary's Biography:
Dorothy Mae Hart passed away on June 22 at Mercy Hospital in Walworth, Wisconsin. She was born on December, 7, 1927 and was the daughter of Mildred and William Hart of Chicago, Il.
“Dot” as she was called by everyone her knew her, lived to be a remarkable 95 1/2 years old and up until the last month of her life, looked after herself and her sister Lois and kept a sharp eye on everything that needed attention.
She grew up on the south side of Chicago in Beverly, attended Morgan Park High School and studied at Beverly Business College then worked as a stenographer for Armor and Company. In her late 20s, she settled in the family cottage in Fontana, Wi where she lived for the rest of her life with her mom, sister Lois and many dogs. She worked as a salesperson at Walls Department Store in Walworth, Wi for 27 years and as a volunteer at Lakeland Hospital in Elkorn, Wi.
Everyone who knew Dot, loved her – she was smart, personable, funny, kind and gracious. Dot loved chatting with her many friends, laughing with her sister Lois, and spending time with her three nephews and their children and her niece. She loved animals, planting flowers, reading, traveling and the many trips she took up to Door County with her sister, Lois. Dot was active in many animal welfare groups and was a member of Calvary Community Church in Williams Bay where she sang in the choir. She is survived by her two sisters, Lois Hart and Marilyn Jonas, her three nephews Tim, Steve and Chris Jonas, her niece Julie Jonas, Susan MacMillan (a niece by marriage), her four Great Nephews Ian, Conrad, Adrian and Alex Jonas and her beloved dog, Jax. She was preceded in death by her mother Mildred Hart, her father William Hart, her brother-in-law Joesph Jonas and life-long friend, Maxine Cantrell.
A memorial was held on June 30th at Calvary Community Church in Williams Bay with friends and family in attendance and officiated by pastor Chuck Cervenka. Dorothy will be buried in the family plot in Chapel Hill South Cemetery in Worth Illinois. All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030.
