Paul L. Swain
Obituary's Biography:
Paul Leslie Swain, 88, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away October 9, 2020 in Grayslake, IL. He was born September 3, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Paul and Lydia Swain. Paul was raised by adoptive parents and married Barbara, his high school sweetheart at the age of 20 and remained married until the time of his passing 68 years later. He will be remembered by his daughters and grandchildren as a loving, generous, one-of-a-kind dad and “papa”. He created his own language for the people he loved, was always willing to help with a project as he worked as an electrician for Local 134 for over 40 years and he loved a good cigar and a glass of Johnnie Walker Red. Because he was adopted, a DNA test was performed and it was determined toward the end of his life that he had 4 half-siblings and numerous nieces and nephews that he was fortunate to have met and spend time with. He loved history and was a prolific reader, while he also loved watching old movies from the 30’s and 40’s. He will be missed beyond words. Paul is survived by his wife Barbara, whom he wed on September 6, 1952 in Chicago, IL, his daughters Kathleen Kennedy, Judy (David) DeAngelis, and Sandra Swain, his grandchildren Kristin (Michael) Feldman of Scottsdale, AZ, Justin (Kara) DeAngelis of Chicago, IL and Joshua DeAngelis of Elkhorn, WI, and his half-siblings Robert Sheldon, Howard Bieze, Bette Ruschli, and Jane Ruschli. He was preceded in death by his parents. All funeral arrangements were privately held and entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030.
