R. George Hanner
Obituary's Biography:
George Hanner, 80, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 in Chicago, IL. He was born August 11, 1936 in Lake Forest, IL to Henry and Louise Hanner. George was a veteran of the US Air Force. He loved to bowl, was a world traveler, enjoyed musicals, and was known to have the greatest smile in the world. George is survived by his wife of 22 years, Judi, his children Dawn (Ken) Roucka, Erik (Kelly) Hansen, Dawnmarie (Luke) Rodriguez, Mark Hanner, Diane (DeShon) Jamerson, Joanne Hanner, and James (Stephanie) Hanner, his 9 grandchildren, his sister Judy Murray, his nieces Leslie (Mark) Williams and Judy (Pascal) Majon, and his nephew David (Susan) Hanner. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Scott Hanner, and his brother Gene Hanner. A visitation and a funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm with a funeral service commencing at 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. I knew George when we worked together at AHSC, where I started as a computer programmer in 1971. We went different ways when AHSC and Travenol Labs merged in the 1980’s and then reconnected in the bowling league about 20 years ago. George always made quite an impression and you were never confused about where he stood on an issue. I certainly never forgot him.
