Obituary's Biography:
Mathias J. Brost, formerly of Grayslake, IL passed away on March 3, 2015, shortly after celebrating his 100th birthday in late February. Mathias was the cherished husband of Josephine, who will miss his love and companionship acutely after nearly 75 years of marriage. Matt was the dedicated father of Robert and Mary, and proud grandfather of four. Matt and Jo were long time members of St. Mary’s church in Mundelein. Mathias was a veteran who served his country in both World War II and the Korean War. Mathias was preceded in death by his three sisters Isabelle, Gertrude and Eleanore, as well as his parents. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM with a funeral mass commencing at 11:00AM, at St Mary of the Annunciation Church, 22333 W Erhart Road, Mundelein, Illinois. Burial will be held at 2:30pm at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, Illinois 60030. We are Richard & Nancy Merrill from St. Gertrude Parish in Chicago. We are related to the Peter Brost family from St. Gertrude’s Parish since 1910. Mildred Brost Merrill was a first cousin to Isabelle, Eleanor, Gertrude and Mathius Brost from St. Benedict’s Parish. Our prayers are with all the Mathias Brost family at his time.
