Obituary's Biography:

Chester F. Mazurek, 99, a resident of Round Lake Park, IL, passed away April 26, 2025, at his home.  He was born August 14, 1925, in Argo, IL to Piotr and Mary Mazurek.

Chester was a veteran of the US Navy having served during World War II.  He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Round Lake and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Chester was a member of the American Legion in Round Lake and was a retiree of the US Postal Service after 30 plus years of employment.  He also enjoyed playing golf.

Chester is survived by his children Deborah Mazurek, John (Candie) Mazurek, David (Cheryl) Mazurek, his grandchildren Brandon Mazurek, Matt (Kelley) Mazurek, Ryan (Alli) Mazurek, Alex (Jose Gonzalez) Mazurek, Sam (Brynn Weiss) Mazurek, Max Mazurek, Sara Mazurek, and Becca Mazurek, his great-grandchildren Grace and Liam, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda Mazurek, his son Dwayne Mazurek, his brothers Edward and Matthew Mazurek, and his sister Rose Szymanski. 

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 2, 2025, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.  A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2025, at St. Gilbert Catholic Church Grayslake,, IL 60030 at 9:30am.  Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.  Memorial donations can be made the Disabled Veterans of America https://www.dav.org/ .  For more information log onto www.strangfuneral.org or contact (847)223-8122.

  1. We met Chester a few years ago at the American Legion Post 1170 where he was a member, boy what a character he was. Him & I became good buddies talking of his life, likes, family & events on his lifetime. He always had a smile & always put one on mine and others. Now the angels with him are smiling. We will miss him deeply.

    So sorry to hear of Chester’s passing. I had the good luck of sitting with Chester at a Olivia’s wedding laughing through a range of his stories. I apologize for not being able to make the arrangements and send my prayers to Debbie and the Mazurek family.
