Obituary's Biography:

Douglas “Doug” Anthony Dunbar, of LaGrange, Georgia, formerly of Grayslake, Illinois, passed away on October 2, 2024. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 11, 1946, to the late Kenneth Dunbar and Margaret Doyle Dunbar. He graduated from Little Flower High School in Chicago, Illinois, and from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois, where he met the love of his life.

In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his siblings, Kenneth Dunbar, George Dunbar, and Frances Earley; his brother-in law, Jim Bayer and his sister-in-law, Heather Straka (Joe).

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Barrie Johnson Dunbar; his adoring daughters, Heather Paschal (William) and Jennifer Horvath (Robert); his darling granddaughters, Madeline Paschal, Alexandra Paschal, and McKenna Horvath; his siblings, Mary Faye Bayer, and Hugh Dunbar (Carole); his sister-in-law, Shirley Dunbar; his many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, one great-great niece and two great-great nephews, and numerous cousins. He also leaves behind his pets whom he spoiled, Max, Ellie Mae, and Claude.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center and the Wellstar West Georgia Hospice for the compassionate care that Doug and his family received.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 1, 2024 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.   1. First he was a son, a brother, an Uncle, then he was a Husband, a Father, a Grandfather and to most of US a friend. The footprint that he, Barrie, Heather and Jenny left on Grayslake soil, will forever be printed.
